MIFF OPENING NIGHT GALA | HAMER HALL

Have you ever dreamt of walking the red carpet alongside the hunks and honeys of the film world? We sure have. Good news, Listers, the MIFF Opening Night Gala is this Thursday night at Hamer Hall, and tickets are on sale for you to get involved in all the red carpet, film screening and official after party action. BOWIE LATE NIGHTS | ACMI

Forget Sunday morning, Friday night is when you want to be checking out the David Bowie Is exhibition at ACMI. Attend any exhibition session from 5pm and get VIP access to Bowie Late Nights, a celebration of one of the most influential artists in rock, pop, fashion and performance. Featuring an interstellar line-up of Australian musicians, performers and electro artists, Bowie Late Nights is going to be the perfect place to let your hair down and boogie. EUROPEAN NIGHT MARKET | MADAME BRUSSELS LANE

As much as everybody complains about winter, you have to admit, it be can be kind of romantic. Especially when the rich European aromas of mulled wine, German sausages and freshly baked pretzels are involved. Rug up, grab your friends and make a night of it. ELECTRIC FIELDS FESTIVAL

THE YARRA VALLEY CHOCOLATERIE’S HOT CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL

The Yarra Valley Hot Chocolate Festival launches this Sunday, making for the perfect way to beat the winter chill! There’ll be one-off tastings, top chocolate boffins and a whoooole lot of rich, creamy chocolate goodness on show throughout the festival, which runs for the entire month of August. TRAILER PARK AT THE VILLAGE | ST KILDA RD

Okay Listers, listen up. Each Saturday and Sunday of August, a collection of Melbourne’s finest food trucks will gather in The Village for Trailer Park 2015. The word of the street is that this week’s theme is ‘North American’, so get down and indulge in the mouth-watering goods that Mr Burger, Smokin’ Barry’s, Toasta, and Jay’s Yogurt have to offer. DATSUN TRAN’S LATEST PAINTINGS AT BROMLEY & CO

Adelaide artist Datsun Tran showcases his latest series of drawings and paintings, Beautiful Fierce, at Bromley & Co in Windsor this weekend. With a focus on the raw power of animals, ranging from feisty lions to delicate birds, the artist (who grew up in a refugee family) started out in academia before finding his feet in the creative world. IRIS AT THE COMEDY THEATRE

Showing as part of MIFF, ‘Iris,’ the feature-length documentary profiling fashion icon Iris Apfel, is showing at 1.30pm at the Comedy Theatre. CITY CELLAR DOOR & WINE MARKET AT CUMULUS UP

CBD institution Cumulus Up plays host to Gippsland wineries this Saturday afternoon as boutique labels are invited to showcase their wares in the inner city restaurant. A whole pig (!!) will be roasted at the tasting too, meaning there will be enough tasty pork rolls on hand to keep you sipping until sundown.

INNOVATION PITCHFEST AT REED GIFT FAIR
