We’re not sure if it’s just our imaginations, or if Melbourne’s menus really are getting more ‘out there’. All we know is that brunch is now, hands-down, our favourite meal to go out for. No longer is it simply an ‘eggs and bacon’ affair, it’s an all out, stunning, delicious art show.  And there’s one sneaky dish that’s slowly been working its way onto just about every café menu in Melbourne. Enter: The Super Salad.

We know, we know, salads are boring. No one wins friends with salads… Except that there’s a new wave of uber healthy, flavor filled plates that really pack a punch, and they are slowly but surely changing our minds.

We’ve seen the term ‘Super Salad’ pop up on the menu of just about every semi-healthy joint in Melbourne, but we’ve found one venue that’s standing head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to legit, healthy super salads that you’d actually want to order (and go back for time and time again): High Society.

Sitting pretty on High Street in Armadale, High Society is a sleek but welcoming café that’s got a seriously impressive brunch menu.

High Society is dishing up a range of Super Salads (as well as a heap of other equally delicious non-salad dishes) that we can’t get enough of. Here are our top three:

1. The star of High Society’s super salad show is the glorious bowl of broccoli, sweet potato and kale. It’s accompanied with hummus, feta, pesto, tahini yogurt, almond dukkah and a poached egg. It’s gluten free, packed with ‘super’ bits and pieces and is totally guilt free. We’ll see you there every Saturday!

2. High Society also dishes up a super photogenic dish of cumin roasted pumpkin with sautéed kale, pink tahini yoghurt, hummus, feta, turmeric eggs, crispy kale and pine nuts. Anything with cumin and pine nuts, we’re sold.

3. Keeping on the pumpkin theme, High Society also dishes up a pumpkin and quinoa salad. It’s packed with cumin roasted pumpkin, smashed avocado, onion, baby beetroots, almond dukkah, pomegranate, and feta cheese. It’s more of a lunch than a brunch, and again, it’s basically guilt free!
