If you well and truly lived your best life over the festive break, chances are you’re feeling a little rough around the edges this week. Work is back in full swing and gone are the endless beach days and cocktails for brunch, lunch and dinner.

If you’ve sworn off the booze for the foreseeable future what is there left to actually do on the weekend and after work, you ask? Never fear, we’ve got you covered with a bunch of awesome activities that needn’t require a bevvy.

Here are the best thing to do on the Coast…minus alcohol.

#1 Throw Some Axes

If you and your crew haven’t paid a visit to Lumber Punks in Miami, then you’re seriously missing out. For $45 each you and up to 10 people will get an hour and a half session. Don’t worry if you’ve never thrown an axe before because the team at Lumber Punks will take you through all the basics to help perfect your skills. Then you’ll have free range to challenge your mates to a game or two. Even better, there’s a juke box for you to pick your tunes and novelty Viking hats to wear? Yep, this place is one of a kind.

#2 Play Some Golf

Holey Moley, the cult-like chip-and-putt is seriously addictive. The 18-hole mini golf course is located in Surfers Paradise’s Circle on Cavill precinct and will bring out the kidult in you. Expect all the LOLs with a labyrinth of holes featuring everything from an ass with Trump’s face on his, well, ahem, ass, to the hound dog with the king himself upon his throne. If you’re after something a little tougher, head to Topgolf where you can practice and track your swing from a rooftop. The whole thing is made possible by state of the art tech, which means once you’ve hit the ball your accuracy and distance is tracked via microchip and recorded on the scoreboard. Points are awarded by hitting targets, too, so you’re not just swinging out into your regular driving range. Not even close!

#3 Get Amongst Nature

If you indulged in a little too much Christmas ham and pavlova then you might want to get that body moving. Fortunately, we live amongst stunning hinterland that is absolutely perfect for a catch up with your friends sans booze. Try these incredible hikes, or swim underneath these magical waterfalls. You’ll feel proud of yourself for getting active while everyone else is at the pub, we promise.

#4 Make Pizza Like The Italians

If you can’t drink you can still eat, especially when you think of all the calories you’re saving by passing on those afternoon beers. Grab your friends and head to Broadbeach where the team at Double Zero (who make some of the best pizzas on the Coast) will teach you how to make the perfect slice. Over three hours head chef Nicola will share all the secrets behind the Pizza Napoletana. You’ll get your hands dirty kneading dough, stretching it and topping it with all the goodies, then of course it’s time to eat. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.

#5 Take An Art Class

If you fancy yourself a bit of creative, why not flex your skills at one of the Coast’s many art classes. Our favourites include the Craft Parlour, where you can try everything from candle making, macramé wall hanging and resin jewellery. If pottery is your thing, check out Norton & Norton and POT Studio who offer classes for begginners, intermediate and even date night! Or if paint is your preferred medium head to Mermaid Beach newbie The Sweet Fine Art studio. Your options are endless and at the end of it you’ll have a treasure you can take home. Surely that’s better than a hangover?
