It's hard to break down the absolute best thing that happens during the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival, but this year we might be close to finding out with the harmonious collaboration between two heavyweights of Melbourne’s food scene—Andrew McConnell, and Kate Reid.
McConnell is well-known for his array of great restaurants across Melbourne including Supernormal, Cutler & Co, and Cumulus Inc. Kate Reid is known throughout Australia and the rest of the world for her unbelievable croissants which has people lining up down Rose Street in Fitzroy.
The Kouign Amann was developed in 19th-century Brittany, and has the reputation of being the most decadent pastry in Europe.
Reid was introduced to the “queen of pastry” while studying patisserie in France, and has been working on perfecting her own version of the dessert. Now, this month will see her version hit the Supernormal menu.
The dessert has been developed by McConnell and Reid to taste of autumn, and features flavours of caramel parfait, hazelnut, white chocolate, and vanilla cream.
Given the limited number the team will be making per day, it's best to book your dessert before you get there. You can do that here.
