Wondering where to go when the day comes to a close, but the lights are not quite out? We've rounded up a selection of the best bars in Sydney for a happy hour drink to tide you over during the twilight hours. With cheap prices and excellent bar food, it certainly is a happy hour at these Sydney bars.

Say hello to Sydney's best happy hours!

Jekyll & Hyde | Darlinghurst

From daylight café to twilight tapas and wine bar, Jekyll & Hyde is one for versatility. Indulge in the dim-lit alter ego by night on Wednesdays, with $8 wines all night, or opt for Friday night cocktails at $12 till close.

Shop and Wine Bar | Bondi

A similar café-cum-wine bar enterprise, The Shop is known for its low-key intimacy and generous selection of local and imported wines. Pop in from 3-6pm for $6 beer or wine, and grab an antipasto platter while you're there.

The Crow Bar | Crows Nest

With an impeccable selection of boutique wines and imported liquors, there's not reason not to pop by from Tuesday to Friday at 4:30-6:30 for The Crow Bar's happy hour. Alternatively, opt for an indulgent dinner on Tuesday, with four tapas plates and a bottle of wine for $25.

Black Penny | Surry Hills

With $5 beers and wines every weekday from 5-6pm and $5 bar snacks, your dollar will go far at Black Penny. Oh, and there are 50 cent chicken wings on Mondays, which is even more of a reason to visit this little corner pub in Surry Hills.

The Owl House | Darlinghurst

Winners of the Best Bar Food award in the 2012 Good Food Guide, The Owl House boasts a nifty cocktail deal alongside its incredible menu. Grab any classic cocktail for $10 until 6pm every day, and pair it with a smoked bone marrow and oxtail croquette appetiser, or a quail scotch egg with crispy jamon and shimeji mushrooms.

The Corner House | Bondi

You know it's a laudable operation when a bar makes its own juices and syrups. Head upstairs at The Corner House and revel in cocktail hour from 5-7pm. Fill up with $15 gourmet pizzas and $5 beer and wine every day.

Hemingway's | Manly

Despite being named after the hard-drinking symbol of American machismo, Hemingway's has a delightfully global influence. While you down $5 drinks during the 4-7pm happy hour, devour some grilled haloumi and chips, or tuna sashimi with avocado and ponzu.

Panama House | Bondi

Panama House pays homage to the fiery cuisine of Central and South America, with delights like tequila-cured gravlax and New Orleans sticky ribs on the menu. Complement your meal or just down a few drinks with Southern vigour from 3-6pm for $5 beer, wine, tequila and rum shots.

Shakespeare Hotel | Surry Hills

Touted as one of the few remaining bona fide pubs, Shakespeare Hotel delivers hearty bar food and even heartier drinks. On any weekday from 4-6pm, choose from a selection of house drinks for just $4 each.
