By Sophie Hart

If you’re anything like us, you’ve been daydreaming of sipping piña coladas ever since spring arrived on the Gold Coast. So to help you quench your thirst, we’ve rounded up all the best bars you need to hit for your next spring soirée.

To ensure you make your way seamlessly to the bar (and save some serious coin), we've teamed up with DiDi, Gold Coast’s newest ridesharing service. Not only can you get your hands on epic deals like 50 per cent off your first three rides, you can also score a free ride to the value of $15 across three glorious DIDIDAYS: Saturday 28 September, 5 and 12 October. But wait, there's more! If you’re new to DiDi in Queensland, download the app and enter the code URBANLIST to get yourself an additional $20 in ride vouchers. So, save that cash for the bar and consider your weekend sorted.

Seaside Vibes

Burleigh Pavillion

The Gold Coast’s first-ever beach club is serving you unbeatable seaside views, zesty cocktails and guaranteed good times. Step straight off the stand and onto Burleigh Pavillion for a cocktail to cool you down this spring. Design-wise, Burleigh Pavillion is perfection. Think terrazzo tables, a canopy of fairy lights, four-metre high ceilings awash with crisp white and millennial pink. Order a Purple Rain (made with Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin, Campari and Martini Rosso) and soak up the sweeping views of Burleigh all the way to Surfers Paradise.

Hyde Paradiso

Already an iconic venue in LA, Miami and Vegas, Hyde Paradiso hit the GC earlier this year and the buzz still hasn’t died down. Channelling a Mediterranean vibe with dusty pinks, coral and pastel blues, cosy booths, a hanging garden and uninterrupted views of the ocean, you’ll never want to leave. The best part has to be the 12-metre long pink terrazzo bar specialising in shared cocktails like their signature Top of the Town Punch which serves 10, so bring your mates. Oh, and did we mention they also host bottomless brunches every Wednesday to Sunday? You know what to do.

Cafe Dbar

Perched atop Point Danger overlooking the beach and boasting laid-back surfer charm, there’s a lot to love about Cafe Dbar. Not to mention this cafe-slash-bar also has an adjoining gallery and boutique, so we highly recommend arriving early to drinks to squeeze in a spot of shopping. The menu is extensive but the Dbar burger is undoubtedly the standout and best enjoyed with the Twisted Piña made from 1800 coconut tequila, pineapple, Malibu, lime and lychee.

Chilled Locales

Frida Sol

From the same crew who brought us Bonita Bonita, Frida Sol is the Gold Coast’s newest modern Mexican bar and taqueria and it’s already a winner in our books. The drinks list is extensive but you can’t go past the Mama Cass with vodka, passionfruit, pineapple juice, elderflower liqueur and mint or the Troppo Locco with strawberries, vodka, citrus and lemonade. There’s also Burleigh local Black Hops beer on tap, Balter in the fridge, jugs of sangria and a top-notch wine list.

Hideaway Kitchen And Bar

This bar is dishing up Asian street-style food and zesty cocktails in a seriously atmospheric setting. Sporting fairy lights strung overhead, mismatched umbrellas seemingly floating in the air and swings at the bar, you know you're in for a darn good time at Hideaway Kitchen Bar. Close your eyes and point to any drink on the menu—you honestly can’t go wrong here. If you're recovering from a big night (or planning to have one), we recommend their unbeatable Sriracha Bloody Mary.

For a massive hit of nostalgia, pop into Rosellas. Full of quirky character, this federation-style bar is sending us straight back to our childhood with their menu—but with an elevated twist. Think Vegemite, cheddar and wattle seed butter jaffle or fresh oysters with native finger lime and shaved macadamias served in a styrofoam Esky. The drinks menu keeps the true-blue vibes flowing with the Ironman cocktail (Beenleigh white rum, Bundaberg small-batch rum, lime, banana and Nutri-Grain orgeat) and the Rosella cocktail (vodka, rosella jam, Australian bitter, lemon and lily pily) served in the most adorable Rosella-shaped glass.

Rooftop Views

The Island Rooftop

Found in Surfers Paradise atop a boutique hotel of the same moniker, The Island Rooftop is Hawaiian luxe meets New York sophistication. It’s also the Gold Coast’s largest open-air rooftop bar with a sprawling alfresco patio. Wrap your hands around a Savage Garden (Beefeater gin, Joseph Catron Lychee, lemon, sugar, cucumber) and kick back beneath the warm glow of the glittering city lights. Pure bliss.

Justin Lane

On the hunt for a good Sunday sesh spot? Head to this Burleigh Heads rooftop for high-energy vibes. Kick back with your choice of pizza or pasta (or both, we’re not here to judge) and soak up epic tunes from a note-worthy rotation of local and international DJs. And we can assure you, Justin Lane’s drinks list is nothing to bat an eye at, just be sure to order up their sweet but refreshing take on the classic Cuban Spritz.

The Collective Rooftop

Whether you're in need of brunch, lunch or dinner, The Collective Rooftop has you covered. Boasting a fancy cocktail selection including the Au Lait Martini (espresso martini served in a waffle cone), boozy teacups aka Portuguese Breakfast with gin, Cointreau and homemade marmalade, and unobstructed views west to the Gold Coast hinterland, it's a surefire way to nail a sunny Saturday.

Boujie Bars

A Nobby Beach favourite since 2010, Hellenika needs to be sent to the top of your bucket list. There’s a dining room dishing up authentic Greek cuisine downstairs and a rooftop bar above. Arm yourself with an Ari Onassis (a refreshing blend of Mastiha liqueur, Tanqueray gin, elderflower, lemon and cucumber), step out onto the sundrenched deck surrounded by olive trees, and find a spot beneath one of the canary yellow umbrellas. Yep, this is the closest you’ll come to being in Greece without the jetlag.

Rick Shores

Though this venue blurs the line between restaurant and bar, it would be a crime to leave Rick Shores off our list. Located on Burleigh Beach, you can practically touch the ocean from your seat. Grab a seat inside beside the massive bay windows for panoramic views of Burleigh Beach, or perch yourself on the patio and feel the sand beneath your feet. Long touted as a must-do experience for anyone on the GC, if you haven’t been to Rick Shores yet, let this be your reminder to get booking.

The Tropic

Another venue that’s more restaurant than bar, The Tropic is the perfect spot for a boujee, boozy brunch. Found at the northern end of the Burleigh Pavillion, The Tropic’s aesthetic is an Instagrammer’s dream. Bliss out on a plush pink and wood lounge and treat yourself to a spectacular fairy floss sunset overlooking the water. Order up The Glen Coco cocktail and thank us later.
