Is there anything the crew at Black Hops Brewing can’t do?

Straight off the back of their win at the Australian International Beer Awards (aka the Oscars of the brew world), the Black Hops team were ripping it up at The Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular (GABS). The annual festival takes place in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, and is a chance for craft brewers from all over Australia to showcase one-off, creative beer recipes.

Over the past five years, Black Hops has maintained a proud tradition of showcasing one of their finest, limited run, creative beer recipes at the GABS festival.

But if you couldn’t make it to GABS, that’s ok because Black Hops is bringing the goods home, pouring not one but four of the previous years’ limited brews at both their Burleigh and Biggera Waters taprooms this Saturday 25 May. Yep, it’s a GABS Revival!

The mind-blowing brews on offer include 2015s Kill Patrick, a stout with hints of smoked malts, and a touch of rye. This beer is brewed with fresh unshucked oysters and spiced with tamarind, clove, pepper and lemon zest.

There’s also 2016s award-winning pale ale, Assault Trifle. It’s brewed with all the important ingredients of a good trifle including Aeroplane Jelly, toasted coconut, flagons of cream sherry, Madagascan vanilla beans, lots of fruit and sponge cake.

And you’ll love 2017s Band Wagon, a sweet stout, brewed with chocolate, raspberry jam, vanilla, marshmallow and biscuit—it actually tastes like a grown-up Wagon Wheel. And 2018s Trolley'd In Tijuana (spiced with cinnamon, orange peel and star anise).

Just be sure to save room for this year’s banger, Caribbean Haze. Brewed in collaboration with Mount Gay Rum for this year’s GABS festival, the Caribbean-inspired hazy double American IPA is spiced with citrus, pineapple, mango and coconut-infused Mount Gay Black Barrel Rum.

Thirsty? You should be. Both taprooms will be pouring these beauties from 12pm this Saturday and yes take away bottles are available.

See you at the bar.
