Once upon a time there was a mere handful of markets on the Gold Coast.
Well, not anymore! We’re embracing market culture with wide open tote bags and newbies are popping up faster than Beyonce’s twin-filled baby-mama-belly.
Finding an ideal home in the welcoming arms of the Currumbin Ecovillage in the lush Currumbin Valley, Gold Coast’s newest market offering—The Green Marquee Eco Markets—is all about bringing together creators and doers who go above and beyond in the sustainability stakes.
Crafted by locals Claire Dryden and Samuel McCulluch, The Green Marquee are intended to become a dedicated platform for all the inspiring eco-friendly brands and mindful creatives that are popping up across the Coast.
Launching this Saturday (May 13, between 7am to 1pm), expect all the feel-good community vibes as you wander around market stalls adorned with handmade and natural wares. From reclaimed timber furniture and artefacts, to handmade jewellery, organic baby accessories, textiles, ceramics, vegan skincare, hanging plants, and natural ice creams, to name a few. Yet to organise something for mum on Sunday? The soya candle gift packs from Drift Trading Co. are certain to make her smile.
A perfect combo of food trucks—including Little Wahacha, The Kitchen Garden, and Smooth Juice—will be dishing out nourishing bites. Or, better yet, take advantage of the picnic basket offering, where you can buy a reusable grocer bag filled with local produce and products, then kick back in the inviting grassy field and appreciate your surroundings.
This Saturday, Scott Dalton is delivering the chill live music, while the gorgeous Rach from The Craft Parlour will have a set up of crafts to keep the kidlets busy, or Zen them out with a stint at kids yoga. Adorbs, huh?
Like all good things, they’re starting out small and intimate, though The Green Marquee has all the right ingredients and intentions to grow into something really beautiful; and become an itinerary staple when hopping the best markets on the Gold Coast.
The Green Marquee will be popping up on the second Saturday of every month so, gather your netted bag, sun hat, picnic blanket, and positive energy, and make the drive inland to breathe that fresh country air. It sounds like a magical way to start the weekend to us!
