Get Hyped, Nobby’s Just Scored A New Backyard Cafe And Bar Pop-Up

The old interior of the now-closed Yard Cafe.

Scott Imlach and the notorious Imlach Group are at it again with another hospitality project that’ll no doubt get crowds hyped and a-flockin’.

You’re no doubt familiar with the team behind Gold Coast favourites like Bine Craft Beer Bar, Hideaway Kitchen, Mr Hizola’s, Soho Place, Nightjar and Nightcap

Last week, the hospitality group took over the old Yard Cafe space as a trial, with plans to turn the whole thing into a cafe-slash-restaurant-slash-backyard-bar pop-up. And while we’re super bummed Yard Cafe is no more, Imlach’s ambitious new project is likely to win a lot of hearts over regardless.

The 300-seater space—aptly named The Backyard Cafe—is currently slinging breakfast and Clique coffee, with smashed avo dishes, crepes, breakfast burritos and Buddha bowls aplenty. The backyard part is still under construction but will undoubtedly be your new favourite beer garden hangout once it's done.

In addition to breakfast and drinks (both boozy and alcohol-free), there are plans to introduce additional, nighttime eats (think wings, baos and dumplings). Imlach has even brought back the old team from Barchino, so you can definitely expect a high level of quality and deliciousness when it comes to eats.

If the eight-month-long pop-up is successful, it’ll eventually turn into a massive three-level development on the Nobby Beach retail strip. Until then, The Backyard Cafe is currently open every morning from 6 am, so go ahead and show it some love.
