If you’re a fan of early morning warm ups and coffee dates, then this one’s for you. As part of a series of six Bar(re)ista Hops, Aleenta Barre are putting on a pretty savvy thing to do on the Gold Coast this October. Starting this Wednesday, meet at Broadbeach’s Neilsen Park for your barre workout and splash just five bucks, with all proceeds donated to BraveHearts. Then Bar(re)ista Hop your way to Elk for a morning brew and a refreshing way to start the day with a bunch of new besties. Can’t make the first event? BLANC de BLANC Champagne Cabaret
After much pleading and begging from locals, BLANC de BLANC, the riotous champagne cabaret, will be returning to the Coast this spring. Squeal! The dynamic all singing-dancing-acrobatic-comedy show takes place under an enchanting Spiegeltent and, like any night on the bubbles, as the evening’s cabaret progresses the debauchery elevates and, before you know it, you’re seeing wayyyy more of the cast then you bargained for. Warning: prudes stay away. Trust us, this will be one of the best things to do on the Gold Coast this October.

Clik Clak Photo Exhibition At Espresso Bonsai
The legends at Espresso Bonsai are hosting Clik Clak, one of the most snap happy things to do on the Gold Coast this October. Ten artists have used their interpretive eyes to capture the Coast from their unique perspectives. Armed only with a disposable camera and the GC as their muse, be taken on a journey to celebrate our bangin’ city. All will be revealed on the night and everyone is welcomed.

BLA! Brewing Local Artists At Burleigh Brewing Co.
Eternal cheerleaders for local culture and community, Burleigh Brewing Co. are hosting the second editon of BLA! (Brewing Local Artists) this October. If you attended the first installation you’ll agree this soul-warming event is a worthy use of your precious Saturday evening. Promising to be bigger and better with 18 local artists exhibiting in various mediums, live art and live music, flowing craft beer and all the good feels.

Flavours Of Metro At Australia Fair
Hold the phone. Australia Fair is busting out their A game with another Flavours of Metro street party. Come for performances by The Black Sorrows, an interesting mix of eats from Australia Fair Metro restaurants and Chinatown vendors, plus themed market stalls that are set to light up Southport for one seriously tasty night.

Stone & Wood Beach Clean Up & Karma Keg Fundraisers
The local chillers at Stone & Wood know that this is the only planet they can brew beer on. All the more reason to take care of it! Passionate about earth and community, the Stone & Wood Beach Clean Ups and Karma Keg Fundraisers will be held over three weekends in October. Live music, ice cold beer, delicious eats and fist pump-worthy raffle prizes, come and show your community spirit and do your part to clean up our sandy shores. All proceeds from raffle tickets are headed straight back to the SLSC. It’s a win win.

Froth Fest At Miami Marketta
Miami Marketta are down-right hound dogs when it comes to hosting events, so you can expect big things from the vegan approved Froth Fest. Bop along to live tunes and taste test your way around your favourite plant-based food vendors from lunch time right up until 8pm. With all proceeds donated to Sugar Farm Sanctuary and Save a Cow, settle in for an epic day of absolute good-doing. The sprinkles on top? All pre-purchased tickets will put you in the draw for a four-night stay at Angourie Rainforest Retreat, a Duranbah Surfboard, Tacoola swimwear and Vegan Frotherz clothing (oh, how fitting).

Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase
That’s right, the Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase is rolling into town this October. Get ready to laugh your dacks off and get up close and personal with writers from The Simpsons and other Aussie jokesters such as Luke Heggie, Becky Lucas and Cameron James, who was named ‘the next big thing’ by TimeOut Sydney. This group of Sydney Comedy Fest’s best will be putting on an inappropriately brilliant set sure to have you cacking yourself silly.

Hey Sunshine Surf & Music Fest
Surf vids, a bunch of bands and a goddamn live art exhibit, Hey Sunshine is going all out. Head down to this surf celebration at Burleigh Brewery Co., sip on world class beer and embrace #allthefeels on the second Saturday of the month. We’re calling it now, this is going to be one of the coolest things to do on the Gold Coast this October.

Buskers By The Creek
Yaas. This year’s Buskers By The Creek is coming at us in full force. This free two-day, family-friendly busking bonanza sports a shipwreck theme in 2017 and will see over 300 incredible performers hit the foreshore of Currumbin Creek. Acts include captivating musicians, a floating skateboarding half pipe, plus circus acts, child prodigies, record breaking stunts and, of course, puppeteers. Bring along your good vibes, fave sock puppet and join in on the action of Buskers By The Creek.

The Black Opal Dinner & Theatre
If you missed out on Opera on the Beach but are still in search of a dose of live theatre, set your GPS for the mountains and check out The Black Opal, a sassy 30s-style jazz cabaret hosted by Heritage Wines. An Aussie adaptation of Shakespeare’s 12th Night, and hosted inside a winery (um, hello!), this sounds like our kinda night out.

King Of Burleigh Hill
Free access to cart racing action on Burleigh Hill? Yes, please. Just when you thought you couldn’t do with any more reasons to host your Sunday sesh in good ol’ Burls, King Of Burleigh Hill returns. Scattered with food trucks, specially designed obstacles and kicking off from 2pm, get amongst the action with a sneaky brewskie in your side cart.

Knights Of The Dub Table At Mo’s Desert Clubhouse
New Zealand thrashers, Knights of the Dub Table, are heading to Mo’s Desert Clubhouse following the release of their new EP, Unity. This event is a Sea Shepherd fundraiser for the local Apex Harmony boat that works here on the Gold Coast checking shark nets and saving our precious marine life. Knights of the Dub Table will also see Brisbane astro-reggae killers Hemingway taking to the stage. This is not one you’ll wanna miss.

Buffalo Sears Big Smoke Carnival
The regular waft of weekend BBQs on Burleigh Hill will be smothered when, across the Gold Coast Highway, one of GC’s meatiest eateries hosts its first Big Smoke Carnival. Held over two days, Buffalo Sears invite you to join a swag of pitmaster demonstations (learn step-by-step how to smoke buffalo wings, ribs, beef, pulled pork, japaleno poppers and more), plus wine tastings with Taylor’s Wine, live music and more. We’re stuffed just thinking about it.

Start your engines! Two rounds of zooming excellence is hitting the Gold Coast later this month with Round 12 of the 2017 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship and Round 3 of the 2017 Pirtek Endurance Cup taking their marks at the Gold Coast 600. Pack your ear muffs, your adrenaline tanks and an appetite for track-side pies, or kick off with the Black and White lunch on Friday 20 October at QT Gold Coast’s glorious Bazaar. Just here for the music? Headliners at this year's Gold Coast 600 include the lovely Delta Goodrem plus Hilltop Hoods, Violent Soho, Daryl Braithwaite and DJ Brooke Evers.

Waves sliders, we’re looking at you. When Surfing World Magazine releases a new documentary and cruises into town to share it with you personally well, you go. Scary Good puts the spotlight on a swag of inspiring surfers who are equally talented musically, throwing them together in a remote location for 10 days to surf their brains out. What could go wrong? If you weren’t already frothing, expect live performances from Cloacas and WASH. #livingthedream

GC Festival Of Kites On Kirra Beach
You loved flying kites as a kid, and it’s still pretty cool, okay? Get down to the Gold Coast Festival of Kites at Kirra Beach and watch the sky turn into, well, a sky full of kites! Check out renowned flyers as they strut their stuff airborne and prepare to see a few kidlets tear up if their kite string tangles. A particularly colourful thing to do on the Gold Coast this October would be to give it a crack yourself. These guys have teamed with the cycling event, Kirra Criterium Classic, so expect a flurry of activity both in the air and on the ground.

Weekend road trips? We can’t get enough of them. And what better reason to side saddle your way across the border, with a trip to Murwillumbah’s new Makers and Finders Market? Relax with your besties on your travelling picnic rug, peruse vintage wares, join a workshop run by locals, and get amongst the eclectic northern New South Wales music scene.

For the vintage bride, this night-time soiree will be filled with over 100 handpicked wedding gurus from the Gold Coast and Brisbane. Hosted by Surfing Queensland and certain to be one of the cutest things to do on the Gold Coast this October, Pups On SUPS involves both a two-kilometre social paddle and a dash for cash race. With monies raised to support the Animal Welfare League, whether your pup is an expert first mate on your regular SUPing expeditions or is yet to find his or her sea legs, all are welcome with SUP rentals plus tips and tricks on offer on the morning.
