Fried chicken lovers, unite! An artery clogging, hunger stopping, soul satisfying festival is happening in Sydney and the buttonholes on our jeans couldn’t be sadder. We, on the other hand, are pretty damn excited about the whole thing.
Birds of Redfern is Sydney’s first fried chicken festival and will be curated by the Andrew Levins aka Sydney food writer/DJ/Cool Dad and Cake Wines, and will be featuring some of Sydney’s best fried chicken for your eating pleasure.
Here’s just a taster of what’s in store…
Hartsyard will be frying up Southern-style HY fried chicken with their special hot sauce, ranch and pickles. If Korean Fried Chicken is your jam, Moon Park will be pumping out shrimp brined fried chicken, soy and syrup with a side of pickled daikon. New kids on the block, Henry Lee’s will be filling those bellies with fried chicken on brioche rolls with chipotle dressing and slaw.
Sydney pub fave, The Lord Gladstone, will be bringing the burgs, and The Mitchen which is Levins (ex The Dip) and Mitch Orr (ACME) will be reliving the good old days with Duke Bistro’s crispy fried chicken wings and hot wings buffalo style.
If the thought of all that food is making you thirsty, then you’ve come to the right place. Held at Cake Wines Cellar Door, there’ll be no shortage of wines at the Birds of Redfern fried chicken festival, or a lack of beer with brews supplied by Little Creatures Brewing and White Rabbit Brewery too.
Accompanied by some great tunes, this is one food event in Sydney you won’t want to miss.
