Sydney, it’s a long weekend and that calls for basement parties, a festival pre-party on an island and delicious Mary’s collab to you know, soak up all the tipple before the work week starts.

Here are the best parties to hit up this long weekend.

All Weekend

The Rocks

The legends at The Argyle are absolute champs because for the whole long weekend, expect a non-stop party down at The Rocks. With Aussie The Potbelleez and DJ Tigerlily spinning tracks, we can guarantee you’ll be dancing till Monday morning. But another reason why these guys are champs, is because a BBQ will be fired up every day from 11am with snags, burgers, prawns and lamb chops. Head here for more.

Friday 25 January

Darling Harbour

With tunes from Seth Troxler all night you’ll be hitting those beats with all your mates. Grab a cocktail and watch this cruiser take a spin around the harbour, because nothing can beat a sunset cruise. Head here for more.

Bondi Junction

Hit the Junction’s local basement for beats by D-NOX this weekend and yes, Anderson Paak rocked it out here for a sneaky performance just a few weeks ago. Support acts include neighbourhood talent like Andy Bird and Ben Nott so if house techno is your vibe, head here for more details.

Sydney Harbour

Head out to The Island this Friday afternoon for an Electric Gardens Pre-Party. Headlining this event will be Bag Raiders for an exclusive DJ set (plus a sneaky preview of their brand new single). Alongside BR you can expect disco duo Groove City and Lex Deluxe. Head here for more details.

Saturday 26 January

Watsons Bay

Kick off your long weekend antics at Watsons Bay with Dena Amy, Danny Clayton and Sam Evans who’ll be spinning mixes while you grab yourself and a frosé and settle in. Alongside the tunes you’ll also find sunny brand Soda Shades hanging out just in case you’re keen to pop a new pair of shades. Head here for tickets.

The Imperial at Erskineville is throwing a raging twenty-nineteen party full of performances and live music. Basically, if you’re keen for a late night boogie in a basement, like rooftops and enjoy sipping cocktails in a ginormous courtyard, there’s really no other place for you to be this weekend. Head here for more details.

For all of you who are obsessed by the throwback songs, (let’s face it, who isn’t?), The Bait Shop is throwing a party down at The Factory Theatre in Marrickville this Saturday. With a DJ spinning tunes from all your faves from the 2000s. Think Britney, Christina, Eminem and Usher. Head here for more details.

Sunday 27 January

Darling Harbour

Overlooking some of the best views in Sydney, Café del Mar is hosting a Sunday session to rival your favourites with a solid house and tech DJ line-up too. Head down this weekend for Jeff Barrass, Lunar Disco and Marlie. And for extra good times, break out the gin goblets (they’re damn good). Head here for more details.

Head into the city’s newest underground space Civic Underground. Located on Pitt Street with a pumping sound system, this Berlin-esque party will lock in the techno vibes. You’ll find Robbie Lowe, Andy Bird and Ben Nott bearing the music antics plus a special guest headliner. Head here for more.

Monday 28 January

Mary’s Jump In The Fire

Close the long weekend shenanigans off with Mary’s monthly event Jump In The Fire which will feature uber talented Shannon Martinez (the brainchild behind Smiths & Daughters and Smith & Deli) which means lots of tunes and booze on tap. Head here for more details.

We also chat the festival life and going genre-free with Dena Amy.
