Bucket List Eats in Sydney: 50 Meals to Eat Before you Die

You’ve worked your way through our other lists, now it’s time for the big boy. Call yourself a foodie? Now is the deciding moment. Let’s see how many you can tick off from some of Sydney’s best restaurants.

Now, in the words of prophet Marshall Mathers: let’s get down to business. 

  1. First things first: the truffle egg pasta at Buon Ricordo
  2. Then, without question, the 12-course degustation from Tetsuya’s
  3. Frolic in the sun after fish and chips at The Boathouse
  4. Then head across to Sylvania for a Paul’s famous hamburger with the works
  5. Porch and Parlour’s brekkie bowl. ‘Nuff said
  6. Get well-acquainted with Boathouse on Blackwattle Bay’s snapper pie
  7. Before you ask, of course this list includes the Mary’s burger
  8. Get soupy with New Shanghai’s xiao long bao
  9. Next up, go for Ippudo’s worth-queuing-for ramen
  10. The heavenly frosting on Sparkle Cupcakes
  11. The insane chicken from El Jannah, with mountains of garlic sauce
  12. Don’t try to resist China Doll’s chilli caramel pork belly 
  13. Then it’s time for Nomad’s house charcuterie
  14. Undo the damage with Venus Wholefood's delicious Nourishing Bowl
  15. No list would be complete without Bourke Street Bakery’s lamb and harissa sausage roll.
  16. Or The Chef and The Barista’s Nutella doughnut, for that matter
  17. Naturally, you’ve got to get stuck into the cheese toastie from Raclettes Plus at Bondi Markets.
  18. While you’re at it, go for a Mr Bao Bun
  19. When it’s time for sweets, it’s got to be Brewtown’s Brewnut
  20.  And a steaming hot tin of LP’s pouding choumeur
  21. There’s always spare stomach space for the Messina mushroom cake
  22. Now it’s time for The Hayberry’s heavenly buffalo wings
  23. Haven’t done Bertoni’s lasagne burger yet? Better hop to it!
  24. Of course, the damn good fried chicken from Chicken Institute
  25. Get involved with the ricotta dumplings from Pei Modern
  26. And, naturally, the traditional Paczki from Wieczorkowski
  27. You’d be mad to miss the mouth-watering octopus from The Butler
  28. Same goes for the knock-your-socks-off bacon and egg roll at Laneway Café 
  29. You haven’t lived if you haven’t tried the lamb shoulder from Apollo
  30. Or the mastic deliciousness of Booza ice cream
  31. Go with the whole Chinese roast duck at Mr Wong
  32. Equally as delicious, the sticky lamb ribs from Ms G’s
  33. The 1-metre pizza from Via Napoli is a Sydney foodie’s rite of passage
  34. Not satisfied? The soft serve from Aqua S is the way to go
  35. Butter lovers will lose their minds over the ravioli from Casoni
  36. Now start thinking about the snow cheese Korean fried chicken from The Sparrow’s Mill
  37. Then, it has to be a banh mi from Marrickville Pork Roll
  38. Oh, and pho from Pho Pasteur
  39. You can never resist the famous Frango Portuguese chicken burger from Frangos
  40. Don’t skimp on the authentic gyros from Gyradiko
  41. Feeling brave? Go for the secret taco at El Loco
  42. Right, go get yourself a burger from Pub Life Kitchen
  43. And, of course, the Shakshuka from Shuk
  44. Where would we be without the watermelon cake from Black Star Pastry?

  46. Die and go to foodie heaven with the spanner crab steamed buns from Cho Cho San
  47. The aptly named smoky, cheesy, potato thing at Pinbone
  48. An enormous slice of Pasticceria Papa’s ricotta cheesecake
  49. Get your hands dirty and cook your own steak at The Oaks
  50. A big, hearty Sunday roast from The Four in Hand
