Lacking in the cocktail area of late? Need to go say a quick (or long) hello to the place where everybody knows your name? Sounds like you need a list of Sydney’s best cocktails this month. With so many incredible bars in our fair city, it can be difficult to narrow it down. Here’s what we’re loving this month.

Spicy Rimmed Mexican

The Hayberry Bar & Diner, Crows Nest

All jokes about this tongue-in-cheek cocktail name aside, this spicy, tangy mix of jalapeno-infused tequila, cucumber, and agave is the perfect way to kick off an evening at Crows Nest small bar The Hayberry. And when we say kick off, we mean it. You really have no choice but to settle in once you plonk yourself down in this saloon-themed bar that breathed life into Sydney's north shore earlier this year. When you've whet your appetite with a few cocktails and craft beers, you'll definitely want to tuck into a big old plate of the best buffalo wings in Sydney (fact).

Swagman’s Punch

Low302, Surry Hills

We love to see a bar lifting their cocktail game, and the menu at Surry Hills cocktail bar Low302 always has something that will satisfy our cravings for a tipple without judging us for needing said tipple on a Tuesday. The Swagman’s Punch is a complex mix of spicy Sailor Jerry rum, a hint of citrus, and wattleseed and cinnamon myrtle tea. Intrigued? Of course you are. If you were looking for a drink to rev your engines for a thumping good time, this is the one for you.

Banana Old Fashioned

Gardel’s Bar, Surry Hills

Sydneysiders from far and wide have made the pilgrimage to this Surry Hills bar for years to get their greasy mitts on this cocktail that is nothing (and we mean nothing) short of heavenly. It’s smooth, rich and every sip makes you want to obnoxiously say ‘aahhh’. Team it with a lip-smacking charcuterie selection and you’ll be set for the night… Or the week.

East 8 Hold Up

Corridor Bar, Newtown

Here’s one for those who know what they like, and damn well want it done by an expert. Created by a New York mixologist and featured on the menu at this kick-ass Newtown bar, this zesty cocktail features a simple yet effective mix of vodka, summer fruit, Aperol and lime. It’s just the kicker you need to say peace out to the working week before getting a liiiiittle less classy when you hit the dance floor later on.

Han Sleazy

Miami Cuba, Manly

We don’t care if it’s winter and officially coat weather, when we find ourselves sat in Sydney beachside bar, we will absolutely be getting our tiki cocktail on at Miami Cuba, dammit. The Han Sleazy mixes berrylicious sloe gin, apricot, brandy, and lime together, and the result is a tangy, sweet concoction that helps us forget the temperature is rapidly dropping and our legs are getting increasingly more pale.

Salted Caramel Espresso Martini

SoCal, Neutral Bay

Do we really need to explain this one? Neutral Bay bar SoCal combines two of everyone’s favourite things, plus alcohol, plus a big chunk of honeycomb for good measure. It’s not too sweet, and it will rock your world. Best enjoyed as a TGIF after work on a Friday, as a hello to a Saturday evening on the town, or simply as a see ya later to the weekend on a Sunday. What we’re trying to say is, there really is no wrong occasion to down this bad boy. None.
