So, Urban Listers, clear the diary and get excited for our Fave 5s. There’s a whole year of eating, drinking and discovering to be done…

Hungry and looking for cafés in Parramatta? We hear you. Sydney’s second CBD cops a bit of flack for having some not-so-delicious coffee and breakfast options—but we beg to differ.

With a growing number of hole-in-the-wall spots, cool breakfast digs and coffee that gives Surry Hills a run for its money, Parramatta is on the up and up when it comes to morning caffeine fixes and brekkie bites.

Behold! Here are five cafes in (and around) Parramatta that are doing the coffee and breakfast thing right plating up some of Sydney's best breakfast.

Three Ropes Espresso

Parramatta

It’s all about the coffee at Parramatta café, Three Ropes Espresso. This pocket sized joint serves up some of the best coffee in Parramatta, as well as some very tasty stomach-fillers. Don’t leave without trying their popular silverbeet sandwich with feta, gouda and parmesan (yep, THREE kinds of cheese)—just the thought of this bad boy is causing us to salivate juuust a little bit.

Coffee Embassy

Northmead

Famed for bringing a little bit of Melbourne to the ‘burbs, Coffee Embassy has clearly won over the Northmead locals. For those craving a classic egg and bacon roll, you’ve come to the right place—while it’s not going to win first place in a beauty contest any time soon, it’ll knock over any hangover (or just general egg and bacon roll craving), quick smart.

Double Mac

Parramatta

Parramatta café Double Mac is pretty much the definition of hole-in-the-wall and is known for its fantastic coffee and friendly service. There’s not much in the way of a full-on brekkie here, but pick up a coffee and a damn delicious muffin, and you’ll be starting your day the right way.

Big Treehouse

Rydalmere

This little suburban Sydney café in Rydalmere is popular with locals and for good reason. Their corn fritters with poached eggs, bacon and tomato relish are a winning combo, and their ricotta pancakes with cinnamon honey butter are perfect for those in need of a sugar hit. Slept in? No matter, Big Treehouse serves an all day breakfast, so you can get your brekkie fix well after the standard breakfasting hours.

Circa Espresso

Parramatta

Hailed as one of the best cafés in Sydney’s west, Circa Espresso knows a thing or two about making a mean cup of coffee (or Chai). If you’ve got the morning belly rumbles, the ottoman eggs are a real treat, combining free-range, perfectly poached eggs with crumbled eggplant, garlic labneh and burnt chilli served on sourdough bread. It’s the kind of dish that keeps the locals coming back for more.

We're thrilled to partner with MINI to bring you our Fave 5 series—our fortnightly guide to the best of the best in Sydney. From food to fashion, Campari to Crossfit, each Fave 5 edition is researched and recommended by The Urban List, and driven by the new MINI 5-Door Hatch—putting the city at your fingertips and giving you the freedom to explore it!
