When news broke that our main man Jamie O had bought back his Jamie’s Italian restaurants we were pretty damn excited. We also had plenty of questions. Like does this mean he’ll come visit us more often? We sure hope so.
Lucky for all of us, this year he’s headed our way! And what’s better than Jamie IRL? Jamie + a new menu to stuff ourselves silly with at Jamie’s Italian, obvs. This new menu is a big ol’ collab with local suppliers and producers because (in his words), they’re the experts in the region and should be bloody well listened too—okay, maybe those were our words.
You can expect the same level of deliciousness that the restaurants deliver every damn time, but if we had to play favourites you should definitely prepare your bellies for wild mushroom ravioli, and 12-hour slow-cooked oxtail and Chianti ragu. The former is porcini and fontal pasta parcels (the pasta is all made on-site, FYI) with wild mushroom sauce, thyme, gremolata and veggie Parmesan; while the latter is a ragu layered with pasta, béchamel, mozzarella and parmesan. Yes, it’s basically a fancy pants lasagne. For dessert, you’ll be ordering the wobbly panna cotta, made with organic vanilla yoghurt and served with black cherry compote, spiced oaty crumble and orange zest. It’ll be glorious food comas all round and (of course) it’ll be so worth it.
The menu is dropping in May with a $10 weekly pasta special available throughout the month. Jamie watch will start promptly on 8 May when he touches down—and we can’t bloody wait for it.
