We’re calling it—Mona Foma could be the best value-for-money festival on your calendar this year.
After ten years in Hobart and three wins as Best Contemporary Music Festival in Australia, the Mofo gang are hitting the road and heading to Launceston. And tickets go on sale today.
The Mona Foma fixture is packed full of local talent, along with some top-notch exhibitions and performances from all over the globe. Have you even SEEN the epic line-up yet? Courtney Barnett, Neneh Cherry, Underworld and Mulatu Astatke are just some of the names involved. You can suss the full program here.
Tickets go on sale today at 12pm and we expect they’ll be snuffled up pretty quickly.
Food wise, the main festival space in Inveresk Precinct has you covered, courtesy of local producers Mona’s Heavy Metal Kitchen, Moorilla and Moo Brew.
Let’s look at your ticketing options shall we? If you’re making the trip to Tassie then you best be investing in the Three Day Festival Ticket. This bad boy ranges from $79-$99 (plus a booking fee) and gives you access to all events at Inveresk Precinct (the main festival space) in Launceston. That is crazy good value.
There are also Day Passes available for $40-$45 (plus a booking fee). You should know though, some events aren’t included in the Three Day Festival Ticket or Day Passes, so you’ll need to buy additional tickets to those shows.
A garden of mortal delights and divine corruption. #MonaFoma takes over Launceston this January. The main Mofo action will take place from 18–20 January, but there’ll be other festival events popping up around Launceston from Sunday 13 January. Festival program announced Friday 12 October. Tickets on sale Monday 15 October.
And if you’re a local, you can get a discount on the Three Day Festival ticket (we told you it was value for money). Obvs you’ll need to prove residency. Getting your Tassie mate to say "Yeah, she lives here" probably won't cut the mustard.
Also worth noting is a new policy this year—free tickets offered to Amish people. God knows why. So if you’ve got any Mennonite pals, give them a holla and get them involved.
You can purchase your Mona Foma tickets here. And we don't recommend waiting.
