Our Must-Have Spring Picnic Essentials

By Katelin Meredith - 17 Oct 2014

As we say good bye to the cold weather and hello to the warmer months, there's just so much room for activities, especially as the days get longer. One of our favourite things to do in Sydney is to go on springtime picnics, where all you need is the right company and a few essentials to enjoy yourself. Together, we've handpicked some gorgeous picnic gear that will ensure the best time is had by all.

Chappelli Vintage Style Bicycle

Want to arrive at your picnic in style? Well, you'd better get yourself a Chapelli Bicycle! Adding a touch of modern comfort to classic vintage style, Chapelli Bicycles were made for the inner city. Designed with the 1970s in mind, they're both practical AND good-looking.

The Market Basket Co.

Drawing inspiration from the elegant Parisian women carrying their fresh meat, bread and cheese in rustic shopping baskets, The Market Basket Co. is a picnic-must. Perfect to fill with your gourmet goodies and picnic blanket, each basket is made from strips of woven palm leaves, with durable handles made from genuine Moroccan leather.

Henkell Trocken Sparkling Wine NV

At this time of year, sparkling wine is a go-to for many and what better choice than the German favourite, Henkell Trocken? This dry, fully matured sparkling wine is fresh and crisp, with a lingering finish. It also boasts a subtle tropical fruit aroma, perfect for sipping in the sun on a warm spring afternoon.

Pop Up Picnic

This fantastic company is dedicated to bringing all the fiddly bits of a picnic together. Pop Up Picnic offer picnic parties, which are fully catered events including equipment, entertainment and they will also assist with location selection. Alternatively, if it's a romantic picnic for two that you're after, they have hampers just for the occasion, complete with rug, cutlery, plates, champagne flutes and can even be delivered directly to your picnic spot!

Formaggi Ocello

Formaggi Ocello is renown to stock only the finest selection of farmhouse cheeses, with the interior of their Surry Hills store designed like a rustic barn to capture the origins of their products. Alongside their cheeses, Formaggi Ocello also boast a great mix of accompaniments including fresh bread, pastes and beautifully cured meats. Enjoy in store with a glass of wine, or feel free to take their delectable goodies home (or to the park) with you.

Sydney Picnic Co.

Founded by a pair of passionate foodies, Sydney Picnic Co. embodies the true fun that picnics for two should be. They understand that we all get busy and make it their business to make picnics as easy as possible. Whether you're planning for it to be in a park, on the beach, just at home or you are in search of a location, they can tailor the picnic to your needs. Plus, they use only the very best locally sourced produce. Nice!

Hammamas

Hammamas are beach towels that draw inspiration from Turkish bath towels. Also doubling as sarongs, picnic rugs, table cloths and beach dresses these towels are an absolute picnic must-have. Made from traditional techniques that span thousands of years, Hammamas are incredibly soft, absorbent and quick drying due to their lightweight nature. Hammamas philosophy is to "love life, celebrate colour and keep things simple." What a perfect motto for a spring picnic.

Wheel & Barrow

If it's a beautifully crafted designer picnic basket that you're after to complete the perfect picnic, look no further than Wheel & Barrow. Their picnic baskets cater for four people and are complete with cutlery, plates, glasses, salt and peppershakers, bottle openers and a cool section to keep goodies fresh. Available in different colours, these bad boys are in stock and ready to be shipped straight to you.

Crave Wares

Crave Wares is famous for their melamine tableware. Melamine, for all of us who don't know, is a material that is extremely durable and shatterproof, which makes it perfect for outdoor entertaining. Crave Wares range of tableware comes in bold and graphic colours and patterns that make them a very desirable item to bring along to your springtime picnic. Spoons, plates, bowls- you name it, they've got it!
