We don’t know about you guys, but as far as we’re concerned a good book never goes out of fashion. So whether you’re the kind of person that reads the book first (or wants to be that kind of person), this one’s for you. If podcasts are more your thing, they’ve got those too.
When it comes to International writers this year’s Sydney Writers Festival packs more culture than your next holiday with feminist fave Roxane Gay, 2016 Booker Prize winner Paul Beaty, Editor of Teen Vogue Elaine Welteroth, and memoirist Hisham Mitar (just to name a few). As for the Aussie contingent you can be proud as punch of our contribution to the world of literature, with Saroo Brierley (Lion ringing any bells? Thought so), Tim Costello, Clementine Ford, Tracey Spicer, John Safran, Peter Stefanovic and NSW Australian of the Year Deng Adut.
Now for those podcasts we mentioned earlier. ICYMI Slate’s Culture Gabfest, AKA one of the hottest podcasts of the moment, will be recording their first ever show outside of North America; whilst My Dad Wrote A Porno’s Jamie Morton will be on hand for all of the LOLs, and the lady herself, The New York Times Book Review’s Pamela Paul, will also take to the stage.
The best part? Nearly half of the program is free. So you can get cultured and keep your coin #winning.
When: May 22 – 28
Where: Pier 4/5 and Sydney Theatre at Walsh Bay.
