One of Redfern’s favourite bars, Redfern Surf Club, has teamed up with the iconic Ume Burger and Bar Ume to bring to life ‘Don Taco’ – a holy union between two cuisines that has given rise to none other than taco rice.

From this Friday, the crew behind all thing Ume is taking over the inner-city surf club to fuse the best of Japanese and Mexican flavours in the shape of cheesy nachos with tomatillo salsa and nori plus fresh corn on the cob loaded with shichimi butter.

As for the stand out taco rice, it’s an Okinawan speciality dish that combines the best bits of both worlds. Essentially a Japanese donburi (rice bowl) topped with iconic Tex-Mex flavours this feed is fuelled with crispy lettuce, tangy salsa, sour cream and cheese.

To wash it all down, you can swoon over their funky assortment of ales from independent brewers. Head here for more details.
