Best Christmas Sydney
Best Christmas Sydney

Navigating the silly season can be a bit tricky, especially in a city like Sydney where (a) there are more dining options than you could ever want or need, and (b) they’re all hidden behind an incognito door, down a random alleyway. Well, we’ve decided to break it down for you, with help from Dimmi, so regardless of the situation, you'll know exactly where to book; from Christmas lunch with the in-laws to the annual debrief with the girls, and everything in between.

Make sure you read to the very end, because we have an exclusive offer waiting for you (hint: it involves an all expenses paid dinner for two).

We'd really hate for you to be left out in the cold (or the scorching summer heat), which is why Dimmi is literally the only thing you'll need to survive the festive season this year. The website and app have live table availability, instant booking confirmation and thousands of verified restaurant reviews, which you'll need in those desperate moments when you've been stuck with the job of finding somewhere to go for dinner.

1. Alfresco Summer Sessions With Your Mates

Hugo's Manly, Manly
Hugo’s Manly is an absolute babe in the summertime and we won’t let anyone tell you otherwise. The only thing a summer session with your mates needs (besides a well stocked bar) is a killer view and really, this one is basically unbeatable. You only have to see the rave reviews on the Dimmi website to realise that this is prime Sydney real estate.  They have roughly 100 wines on offer, wood fired pizzas and cocktail jugs up the wazoo—so you can’t go wrong.
Book through the Dimmi website or app.

2. The Annual (Extended) Family Reunion

Riley St Garage, Woolloomooloo
Most of us will agree that the annual family reunion is always a bit of a gamble, because it’s guaranteed to go one of two ways. Either it’ll be a day of family lovin’, or it’ll be—how can we put this—exhausting and remind you of why you only do it once a year. Booking at Riley St Garage is a good idea, regardless of which category your gathering falls in to, because there’s space to spread out, plenty of conversation starters (did you know that this building was built in 1934, great uncle Sam?) and a huge bar to escape to for a breather.
Book through the Dimmi website or app.

3. Christmas Lunch With The In Laws

Flying Fish, Pyrmont
We want to put you in the best possible position to impress the in-laws and trick them into thinking you have your life together. Dinner at Flying Fish is adulting at it’s finest (and tastiest)—sprawling over two levels, it sits on the historic Jones Bay Wharf in Pyrmont and serves dishes like roast quail breast with baby leek, smoked bacon and porcini butter. If you want to pull out all the stops, go for the degustation with wine pairing, and then revel in the adoring looks that your in-laws throw you across the table.
Book through the Dimmi website or app.

4. The Annual Debrief With The Girls

Hotel Centennial, Woollahra.
We have three requirements when selecting the location for the annual debrief with the girls and they’re simple really. Firstly, we want fruity cocktails, like the Centennial’s take on an Aperol Spritz (lemon-thyme infused Aperol with Riva dei Frati prosecco), and then we want comfy, cushy seating (ideally with booths), so we can really settle in. Lastly, we want delicious naughty food that we can totally pass off as fine dining, which is basically what the fried chicken with red chilli miso at Hotel Centennial means for us. It also helps if the lighting is good, so we can document it all on Snapchat, which is why you should book your table at Hotel Centennial, at the Dimmi website here or app here.

5. The Recovery Brunch

Three Blue Ducks, Rosebery
Let’s not beat around the bush on this one. When it comes to the holiday season (and all of the bevvies that come with it), the one thing we can’t do without is a recovery brunch, complete with delicious food and a Bloody Mary (or two). We’re pretty rapt that Three Blue Ducks in Rosebery has decided to join the 21st century and allow bookings through the Dimmi website, because we certainly don’t have time for waitlists that stand in the way of our third coffee of the day. For those mornings when only a hearty breakfast will do, order the chorizo and white bean baked eggs and wash it down with the Bloody Mary with house-made hot sauce (after the coffee, obvs).
Book through the Dimmi website or app.

6. The Work Christmas Lunch

The Potting Shed, Alexandria
Nothing will win over the work crew quicker than picking a cracking locale for the work Christmas lunch and The Potting Shed at The Grounds of Alexandria will definitely deliver the love. It ticks all of the boxes: a delicious and fuss-free menu, cocktails, beautiful space (and we mean stunnnning) and plenty of animals to pat, which IS important. They serve dishes like blue swimmer crab risotto and smashed lemon tart with mascarpone cream and thyme biscuit, alongside a Pimm’s bowl (yes, a bowl) from the bar. You don’t want to just show up though, because this place books out, so book at the Dimmi website here or app here

7. When You've Blown Your Budget On Christmas Presents (But Still Want To Eat Like A King)

Okay, so now that we’ve just told you all the ways to spend all of your hard earned cash (totally worth it), you’ve probably also realised that you blew all of your food money on Christmas presents. Well, that’s where Dimmi comes in! If you make a reservation through the Dimmi website  or app with the promo code URBANLIST before December 31st, you'll instantly go in the draw to win one of five, $500 vouchers to spend at ANY Dimmi restaurant. Hot tip: the more times you book with the promo code URBANLIST, the more chances you have of scoring the $500 dinner voucher. Get on that, guys!
