When we heard the Sydney Fish Market was moving, our seafood loving hearts skipped a beat (in other words, we freaked out). That is, until we found out it was only moving as far as across the bay (phew) and that one of our favourite places ever was set to receive a slick, $250 million dollar makeover.
Set to be the best damn fish market in the whole world (we’re calling it now), recent plans released by the good ol’ NSW government show just how slick the space is going to be. Expect floor to ceiling glass windows, a huge commercial, retail and residential strip, and a nifty boardwalk (so you can bring your pup while shop til you drop, obvs). There’s even talk of a rooftop bar… just sayin’.
Designed by Danish architects, 3XN, the revamp is set for some time in 2018, with the new digs open to the public in 2020. What does this really mean? Prawns for errrrrrrryone, obvs.
While you wait, check this out.
