Guys, get excited. Spring is upon us and with sunny weekends comes the need (more like excuse) for booking your next big group event. According to us, there really is no better way to welcome the warmer weather than with an afternoon of eating and drinking (obviously). So, now’s the time to emerge from hibernation and put your party planner pants on, because you’ve got some organising to do.

With big groups comes the challenge of appeasing the masses, but luckily for us, Sydney plays home to venues like Manta Restaurant and Bar—the perfect group dining location for long lunches that turn into late afternoon aperitifs that roll into the evening, so, it’s safe to say you’ll be dubbed ‘host with the most’ before the day is out. And, because we want to help you on your way to claiming said title, these are our tips for organising a successful group lunching event.

#1 Pick A Place With A View

By far your easiest and most achievable task with Sydney surrounded by water, there’s no excuse for finding a venue with a less than an epic backdrop—a must for nailing those group photos. Manta Restaurant and Bar is the perfectly positioned venue, right on the harbour, with the city skyline in view. Sunny weekend lunches spent here don’t get any better and the vibe is set from the get go, so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the outlook.

#2 Make Like A High Roller

Nothing says celebration more than the sound of popping bottles. Hell, why just get one, when you can get a whole trolley? At Manta Restaurant and Bar, they have a Veuve Clicquot and oyster trolley. That’s right, a trolley full of ice cold bubbles and freshly shucked locally sourced oysters wheeled to your table for your dining pleasure. Cha-ching. The perfect party starter.

#3 It’s Your Call

Group orders are enough to keep us up at night. Even worse—the final bill. Nothing says mood killer more than someone trying to itemise every dish on the menu. Save yourself the unnecessary mathematical confusion and have your meals pre-ordered and, if you’re super organised, even paid for! Pick a set menu prior to the day, attach it to your WhatsApp thread, oblige consent and soon you will be on your way to claiming ultimate event planner status. You’re welcome.

#4 Aperitifs Keep The Party Going

Okay, so lunch is winding down, but things are just starting to heat up. A slight change in scenery is all you need to keep the party going. Time to take it to the bar for an afternoon aperitif. Manta Restaurant and Bar has their very own cocktail expert to keep those energy levels in check. Even better, every day between 5 and 7pm it’s aperitivo hour so you get two martinis for just $20 and gourmet bar snacks to graze on! The perfect transition from day-to-night that your group will not be able to resist.

#5 Take One For The Team

We know event planning is a tiresome task and so do Manta Restaurant and Bar. So much so, they think you deserve a reward for all your hard work. That’s right, Manta are offering the organiser of group lunches (that’s you), a $100 gift voucher to spend at your next group dining event, plus a bottle of Chandon. So, if the sun isn’t enough reason for you to hustle your mates together for an awesome harbour-side lunch, then this definitely should be.
So take one for the team and offer your friends to plan the next group date. Trust us, they’ll love you for it.
