AHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Hong Kong. Street Food.
Now that’s out of the way, let’s get down to business. If we’re being honest, there’s nothing quite as magical as the site of a yum cha trolley headed straight for your table on an empty stomach. So, imagine that feeling, but times 100, because Sydney is getting a freakin’ festival dedicated to not only yum cha, but all things Hong Kong!
HK20 Fun Fun Carnival will celebrate the absolute best of Hong Kong, with Sydney’s Tumbalong Park in Darling Harbour transforming into a foodie hub for a day. Aside from yum cha available all day, there will also be authentic hawker style street food (egg tarts, anyone?), and FREE spring roll tastings (get in early though, they'll go quick).
If delicious Hong Kong style fare isn’t enough to get you going, there’s also going to be traditional lion dancing, a Cantonese opera show, group Tai Chi performances, martial arts demonstrations, calligraphy, a Chinese paper-cutting demonstration, and live music performances. To say there’s a lot going on would be the understatement of the year. But, wait, there’s more: the little ones (and us adults too, thank you very much) will be kept entertained by a giant chess board and even a time tunnel of Hong Kong.
Plus, because you really can’t experience the fun and fanfare that is Hong Kong in just one afternoon, Cathay Pacific and Virgin Australia have teamed up to give away four return flights from Sydney to Hong Kong if you enter the HK20 raffle on the day!
