Newsflash to all the people that ditched us for Europe, staycations are in and European holidays are out. Okayyyy that’s not entirely true but that doesn’t mean you can’t still have a great time back at home. 

Sydney’s still got the goods and LBH it’s a hell of a lot cheaper to hang around here anyway. Seriously, there’s so much going on this month, you won’t even have time to scroll through your insta feed to see what you’re missing. 

Besides, you know you want to give all those Europe snaps a run for their money. Here are 16 fun things to do in Sydney this July. 

Winter Warmer Nights At Butcher & The Farmer

One to book: If you’re looking for a bargain night out that doesn’t scrimp on the foodie delights, we can’t recommend the Winter Warmer nights at Butcher and the Farmer enough. Not only does $37 get you three tasty courses, but next Wednesday 11 July, Will and Steve (yes, of MKR fame) are hosting a one-off evening of sensational seasonal tips. Forefront 18

If you didn’t know, there’s a seriously epic summit hitting up Sydney and all we can say is, sucked in Melbourne. With a bunch of global thought leaders and pioneers in all things media, arts, tech, sustainability and youth, Forefront 18 is the event of July, if not, the year. Headliners include Margaret Zhang, Gary Aspden (Adidas), Jake O’Leary (YouTube Music) and podcast queen Claire Press (Wardrobe Crisis and Vogue)and FYI, there’s an after-party that you definitely don’t want to miss.

We Found The Ultimate Meat Free Monday Feast

For the first Monday in July Indu is taking things underground with a #MeatFreeMonday dinner so delish you can consider the start to the week sorted. You can expect all-vegan goodness done in INDU’s signature mod-Indian and Sri Lankan style. We suggest you BYO stretchy pants because you and your mates are in for a treat. Did we mention their organic wine list? You know what to do.

Bondi Winter Magic Festival

Nothing says we’ve hit winter quite like the classic Bondi Winter Magic Festival. This year they’ve got all the favourites, plus a few other fun things. Whether you hire some skates and glide around the Bondi Ice rink or catch a ride on the new you beaut Bondi Vista (yes they put up a ferris wheel in Bondi, no it’s not extra). Bondi Feast

Now in it’s 6th year, the Bondi Feast returns to the Bondi Pavilion complete with an explosion of colour and entertainment to get you through those cold winter nights. Held over 10 nights, this festival will showcase all the best home grown theatre and arts acts on offer. Plus this year they’ve opened a new Garden Bar and Kitchen which features all kinds of art installations, as well as a pop up kitchen by 2017 Masterchef contestant Callan Smith. Stadium Stomp

Ahhh stairs, our old friends (not). So innocent and yet so deadly. Conquer your fear of these bad boys this month with an epic stair climbing challenging. Climb your way up and down the bays of the SCG and the Allianz Stadium in this 6300 stair climb. Before you start having heart palpitations, relax, you won’t run it all at once. Sunrise @ The House

Sometimes you live in a city for so long that you forget just how pretty it is. Come and get reinspired and soak up all those picturesque harbour views with a yoga session at the Opera House. Capturing the magic on the other side of town, head over to Paramatta this month to explore their Winterlight Festival. Bastille Festival Cheese Dome

Five words for you - All you can eat cheese. That’s right, this year the Bastille Festival is hosting a 90 minute French fondue extravaganza. Held in an immersive 360 dome, you’ll be transported to the French Alps where you can get your hands on all the melted cheese your heart desires. Food comas here we come. Hand Build Your Own Ceramic Mug

It’s the perfect weather to lounge around in the jammies with a hot cup of tea or coffee. And what better way to do it than with your very own handmade ceramic mug! Let that creative genius fly in this three-hour ceramics class, where you’ll learn all the skills to make your very own pottery. Design your own mug, make it out of clay and then decorate it with colour. Plus there are endless cups of tea and biscuits available throughout the workshop. Sound like fun? Machiavelli Ristorante Italiano’s Christmas In July

Humans of Sydney, there’s five-course Christmas dinner happening and honestly, it’s the Chrissy feed to end all other feeds. Murder At The Museum: Long Gallery Confidential 

Get out your detective hat because Murder at the Museum is back! Yep, you’ll want to head over to the Australian Museum to participate in one of Sydney’s favourite crime solving events. Christmas In July 

We may not get the luxury of waking up on Christmas morning to a fresh layer of snow on the ground and white as far as the eye can see but that just gives us every excuse to celebrate Christmas twice. Tis the season this month at the Shangri La, with their Christmas in July feast. Top Dog Film Festival 

We’re a sucker for all things dog and now there’s an entire festival dedicated to our favourite furry companions. That’s right, all you dog lovers you can now come and celebrate man’s best friend at this year’s Top Dog Film Festival. With over 2 hours of independent films that showcase the most inspirational and heart-warming relationships between a man and his dog, you’ll get all the #feels. SMASH! Sydney Manga and Anime Show
