While we love ourselves a good catch up with friends over a glass of vino at the latest restaurant opening, lately we’ve been finding ourselves trying out a paint and sip class or two.

If you’re not familiar with them, in short, it’s basically where you learn new artistic skills (water paints, oils, charcoal) from a master, while sipping a glass of red, picking at a cheese board and catching up with friends. Sounds like the dream right? You can tell why we’re hooked.

Which is why we’re so pumped The Sweet Fine Artist Studio has opened up shop in the ever-growing creative hub of Mermaid Beach. Located just around the corner from faves The Borrowed Nursery and Morena Espresso, this incredible new studio is the brainchild of artist Maree Quinn who has over 20 years industry experience creating, selling and teaching art. And now she wants to share her passion with people like us.

The light and airy space is kitted out with upcycled furniture, all lovingly restored by Maree herself, hosting a bunch of fun classes that everyone can enjoy—no matter your experience or artistic skillset. From life drawing classes every Wednesday to sip and paint classes every Saturday, they’ve got a plethora of sessions for you to try.

They’ll supply all your material needs including aprons, paint, paper, canvas and of course glass wear. You just need to arrive with a bottle and your choice of nibbles, allowing you to lose yourself in the creative environment and discover your inner Banksy. Even better, the classes are super intimate, so you could book out a whole session for just you and your mates.

If you’re a budding artist looking to take your business legit, there are also individual studio spaces to rent. With more exciting plans for beginner art classes in the new year too, we recommend you book in asap.

The Sweet Fine Artist Studio is open daily from 9am till 3:30pm with evening classes held Tuesday and Thursday night.
