There’s nothing we love more here on the Coast than embracing our roots. So when we found out new kid on the foodie block, GG’s Eatery & Bar was taking over the space left vacated by Goldie fave Grocer & Grind, we were stoked. And now that we’ve popped in for a visit, we’re even happier, because this place is pretty damn adorable.
The well known corner site in Broadbeach Waters was transformed in just two short weeks, no doubt thanks to the skills of new owner Patrik Gennari, who has more than a little experience when it comes to creating successful eateries—he also owns restaurants Glass, Koi, The Loose Moose and The Roosevelt Lounge. He’s joined in his latest venture by Maria Tsirling, Christelle Langlet and Roslind Williams.
The European-style eatery is serving brekky seven days a week, as well as lunch AND dinner Wednesday through Sunday. More hours in the day to demolish their tasty menu? Yes please!
Get your day started with moreish sweet potato toast topped with poached eggs, spinach, bacon and red pepper strawberry coulis. One word—YUM! If a sweet brekky is more your thing, you can’t go past the pumpkin caramel waffles—yes you read that right! And before you pull out your calorie counter you should know the house made waffles are paired with COYO ice cream AND a pumpkin pie protein ball—'cause it’s all about balance right?
We recommend washing it down with their signature charcoal latte—it’s so pretty you’ll want to get a snap of it for the ‘gram asap. If you’re after something a little more refreshing the beet chia cold pressed juice with apple, beetroot, lemon, ginger and turmeric is the zingy wake-up call we didn’t even know we needed and now we’re seriously hooked.
Another area they’re kicking goals? The variety of healthy and more robust lunch options they offer. There’s loads of gluten-free and vegetarian dishes too. If you’re after an indulgence, try the mushroom pappardelle. For those more health conscious there’s a selection of healthy nourish bowls. Our pick was the super green with kale, avo, broccolini and turmeric dressing.
At night they roll out a concise but impressive cocktail list with the signature GG’s espresso martini, a must-sip. Then fill your belly with mouth-watering thin-crust pizzas, octopus risotto and veal ragu.
But our favourite part of GG’s—aside from the food of course—has to be their decor. Outside you’ll get serious Paris vibes with rows of green and white tables and chairs facing the street, letting you soak up all that beautiful GC sunshine. Inside lush greenery hangs from the ceiling with bi-fold windows letting the light stream in, keeping it nice and fresh for the day time. While the dark wood floor, concrete and exposed brick walls make it moody at night. AKA it’s fab for a date!
We know we’ve probably got you hooked so instead of having to choose between breaky, lunch or dinner at GGs, we recommend going in for all three—seriously, no judgement here!
