If swanning about in the sunshine is high on your list of priorities, GC’s favourite alfresco bar and eatery should be your go-to. Without question one of the best Melbourne Cup events on the Gold Coast, choose to lounge on the lawn with the Veuve Clicquot Airstream or sit down to a specially-curated, three-course spring lunch in the restaurant. There’ll be sweeps, live music, DJs, a beauty bar, prizes and fashions on the fields.

Melbourne Cup On The Rooftop | The Island

No surprises that Gold Coast’s hottest new rooftop bar is throwing one helluva Melbourne Cup party. Matter of fact, The Island is throwing two! One of the first public appearances of their new Level 12 function area, book in for a sit-down three-course luncheon with Mumm champagne. Or, if you go the punter-level option, a ticket to the rooftop bar soiree (sure to turn a little wild!) gets you canapés and a three-hour drinks package including French bubbles. There are also fashions of the field, sweeps, giveaways, roving entertainment and the option to make a night of it and book a room at the new boutique hotel.

We are mad for Baskk here at The Urban List, so the idea of a special Melbourne Cup party at this hip hangout—with an Ink Gin cocktail on arrival to set the mood—was music to our horsey-loving ears. Gold Coast Turf Club is turning it on for one of their biggest meets of the year with seven real-life horse races, fashions of the field and people-watching galore. While majority of the best hospitality packages have already been snapped up, try your luck via the website or go general admission with $30 tickets at the gate.
