Milky Lane Surfers Paradise Gold Coast

This week, #burgerlife on the Coast as we know it will be changed forever. Big call, yes, but also true. So, what’s happening?

Originating in Bondi in 2016 and now with three locations across Sydney—Milky Lane, the unapologetically in-your-face burger, dessert and cocktail bar is the stuff diet nightmares are made of—and it’s officially opening on the Gold Coast. Can we get a “hell yass”?!

Set to swing back the doors this Friday 18 May on Surfers Paradise’s Cavill Avenue, a relentless string of crazy food creations has made this brand a viral social media sensation, throwing Milky Lane into legendary status. And now we can get them all any damn day we feel like giving the diet the middle finger. #cheatday

Flying the whole team in from Bondi to design and deck out the new venue, owner Christian Avant and his energetic crew have promised a burger bar experience like no other, where slipping in for a cheeky burgs can often morph into an all-night party session.

At Milky Lane, a thumping DJ booth and flamboyant cocktail bar takes centre stage. Tan leather booths are surrounded by walls covered in ML’s bold signature murals which play homage to hip hop and R&B musical royalty, dead and alive. A train carriage filled with international icons wraps around the eatery, while street graffiti artist Sofles has emblazoned his handiwork in the form of oversized portraits of Eminem, Beyonce and Jay Z.

Food wise, buckle in and prepare to get your drool on, where hilariously named burgs like the Chic-Kanye, Kevin Bacon and Limp Brisket set the tone, with other honorable mentions going to their thigh-slapping sides of mac n cheese croquettes, loaded fries and southern fried popcorn chicken with cheese gravy dipping sauce. Noms come celebrity endorsed too; even Ed Sheeran visits when he’s in the country. True story

Just when you think you’ve got your head around the ridic regular menu, special additions teased to be landing in June include deep-fried Golden Gaytimes and Magnums, a peanut butter jelly burger and a PBJ megashake. OMG. Be still our beating hearts…

These guys make no small claim in bringing the most OTT cocktails to the Coast either. And you’ll agree, when you lay eyes on their pour-your-own balloon cocktail towers complete with dry ice theatrics and fairy floss. Or boozy liquid desserts like the Hershey’s cookies ‘n cream or Reece’s peanut butter martini. Yes, this is real life.

But it’s their shamelessly outrageous desserts that’ll really have your dentist screaming. Go all out with The Churro Bowl: a sugary, carby delight piled high with coconut gelato, Nutella, salted caramel, crushed nuts and, well, pretty much anything else you can think of!

And while we all know Milky Lane has got plenty of competition for our burger attention on the Gold Coast, there will always be room for more when it’s delivered with such gusto.

Milky Lane officially opens Friday 18 May, so you know what to do… *pulls out biggest stretchy pants*
