We love wieners just as much as the next person, so it’s taken all of our energy to keep hush hush about the concept and location of The Wiener Haus’ first permanent diner.
You’ve all had your guesses, and let’s just say you were all off. Waaayyy off. Don’t expect a hole-in-the-wall hotdog house at Mermaid, Palmy, or even James Street. If you guessed Burleigh, you’re getting warmer, but the full sitch will still come as a surprise.
Paddy Skicko and The Wiener Haus crew have, just this second, given us the green light to help them break the news. You ready?
For the past month or so they’ve been madly working away in secrecy, up-cycling a freakin’ shipping container! Wrapping said container with their slick branding including Richard, the wiener mascot; plus fitting out a kitchen and servery area. Next week they’ll be moving their shipping container diner to its permanent home with alfresco covered seating alongside, and creating a super hip hangout in which to devour all your favorite Kransky dogs—dine in or takeaway.
Add to that, an extended menu of specialty fries, shakes, sodas, and some never-before-seen desserts; while also going out of their way to cater for vegans—everything on the menu is available animal product-free, should you so desire.
But WHERE, you cry!
Well guys, this is where things get really interesting. Wait for it… The Wiener Haus’ new diner will live on the outskirts of Burleigh’s busy Stockland Shopping Centre on West Burleigh Road. For reals!
Totally out of the box, eh? These guys have been enlisted to help bring an entirely new energy and face to the centre, as Stockland redevelops and competes with the juggernauts of Pac Fair and Robina. Sure, it’s not where you’d presume, but these fun and a little bit risqué projects and locations of late are all about making our beautiful city diverse and keeping everyone on their toes.
Next time you’re driving home from work, doing the Thursday grocery night shop, or burning around town looking for a cool spot to hang with your mates over naughty eats, you can do it at The Wiener Haus Diner in Burleigh. Snap!
We’re not divulging the opening date just yet, but it’s close. So close we can taste the smoky wieners from here. We’ll be back soon with your first look so, until then, sit tight and salivate.
