thing to do easter long weekend

The Easter Long Weekend (or for some lucky ones, the Easter/Anzac Day 10-day sojourn) is just days away and we’re already meticulously planning how to best spend every precious minute.

So whip out your diaries, fire up the group chat and start planning what will be your greatest Easter Long Weekend to date.

Putt For Prizes

Let’s be real, most of us aren’t professionals at golf, so it’s good to know when we’re not swinging and missing, we can kick back and relax with some of Topgolf’s chef-inspired meals and top-shelf drinks. Not only that, this Easter, Topgolf will be running a competition where hundreds of golf balls will be placed in dispensers and each guest that dispenses a golden ball will receive an instant prize. It’s running from 6 April to 22 April and there are hundreds of prizes up for grabs—so make sure to get in on the action.

Party Like You're At Coachella

Known for their epic party venues, if you haven't yet paid a visit to newbie Hyde Paradiso, you'll want to put it to the top of your list. The venue, located at Peppers Soul, will not disappoint with incredible 180-degree coastal views, playful Mediterranean décor and a 12-metre bar. Oh, and let’s not forget their mouth-watering share dishes that showcase Greek, Turkish, Italian and Moroccan flavours. This Sunday they're throwing a Coachella-inspired bottomless brunch, with a festival dress-code, DJs spinning sweet tunes, Glitter make-up artists, plus bottomless mimosas and signature sgroppinos.

Get Amongst The Footy Action

The footy season is back and in full swing, which means the weekend is going to be brimming with all kinds of sports action. So no matter your code, make sure to get down to Harry’s Sports Bar at Burleigh to catch the footy fever. Known as the sleekest sports bar on the Coast, the venue is complete with exposed brick, polished concrete, leather seats, and of course, 5 flat screen TV’s playing all your favourite acronyms (NBA, NFL, AFL and NRL). Just make sure to order an obnoxious serving of their famous chicken wings to keep you going. Not in Burleigh? Check out this roundup of the Gold Coast's best sports bars to find one in your hood.

Hit Up Mother Nature

It’s safe to say we’re not in short supply when it comes to natural splendour, so make sure to pencil in a date with the outdoors—especially if you’ve indulged in one too many chocolate bunnies this year. If conquering mountains is your thing, then check out these epic hikes. If cooling down in picturesque waterfalls is more your style, there’s also a heap of those to check out here. Oh, we’ve also got a small selection of beyond-average beaches you can suss out here.

Try Your Luck At Axe Throwing

Yes, you read that correctly. Axe Throwing is fast becoming a trend and Lumber Punks in Miami are all over it. Even better? These legends are open all Easter long so you can challenge your family and friends to battle. Never thrown an axe before? Don’t sweat it. The guys will happily walk you through all the basics so you can perfect your skills. There’s also a jukebox and naturally, novelty Viking hats.

Have A Tipple, Or Two At Justin Lane

It wouldn’t be a (long) weekend on the Coast without a visit to the Justin Lane rooftop. This Saturday, the Burleigh eatery is throwing an epic Easter Weekender boasting local and international DJs like Wongo, Cut Snake and Little Fritter. Our recommendation—get there early, snag a booth, sip on their signature passionfruit and chili margaritas and watch the sun go down. For tickets, head here

Check Out The Bleach* Festival

Clear room in your diary because this year's Bleach* Festival is an absolute standout. For those not in the know, Bleach* is a contemporary and innovative expression of music, dance, theatre and visual arts with key activation sites from Burleigh to Currumbin, Palm Beach, Broadbeach, Surfers Paradise, Mudgeeraba, Southport and everywhere in between. This year sees a bedazzling program of events including, the Tectonic dance installation and travelling Water Songs performances, to the Pyrophone Juggernaut. Cap it off with an afternoon spent at the Burleigh Bleach* Club with your toes in the sand and cold bevvy in hand.

Be Dazzled By Spiegeltent

Run in conjunction with Bleach* Festival, there’s no way we could overlook the month-long Spiegeltent residency when pulling together our top pick of things to do on the Gold Coast this Easter long weekend. This unique pop-up performance space will host nightly performances of sexy cabaret Limbo Unhinged across the Easter weekend, together with one-off appearances from comedians Matt Okine (The Hat Game, April 19) and Osher Gunsberg (Back after the Break, April 20), plus much more.

Long Lunch At The Burleigh Pavilion

If there's one thing you must do this Easter long weekend, it's a long lunch, just because you can. Our pick? The Burleigh Pavilion with its stunning views and delish menu. To celebrate Easter, head chef Guillaume Zika has created some mouth-watering seafood specials. At The Terrace, dig in to the seafood pizza with Pomodoro, prawns, mussels, calamari and garlic oil; or the house-made spaghetti with prawn, clams, mussels, parsley and chilli. At The Tropic, see a twist on the classic prawn cocktail served on ice with pink grapefruit and mint; or try a feast for two with a whole rainbow trout served with dill oil, pomegranate, tahini dressing and lime.

Shop Up A Storm At The Village Markets

Work off that chocolate breakfast with a stroll around The Village Markets. Check out over 100 stalls run by local creatives and chill to live music, while picking up street eats from one of the many gourmet food trucks; open 8:30am to 1pm at Burleigh Heads State School. This local favourite is one of our top picks for things to do on the Gold Coast this Easter long weekend.
