As we officially launch into the second half of 2019 and cosy up for winter nights indoors, crisp weekend roadies and everything in between, we can’t help but feel all fuzzy inside about the cooler months on the GC.

With so many things to do on the Gold Coast this July, hibernation is absolutely not on the list. 

No matter if you’re a true-blue wintertime lover, or simply waiting for the colder months to blow over, here are the best things to do on the Gold Coast this July.

Aviary’s Drag Queen Bingo

Drag Queen Bingo shimmies into Southport Shark’s Aviary Rooftop Bar this month in all its fabulousness and we can’t wait. With some great prizes up for grabs (think double passes to bottomless brunches) and entry at just $10 per person, glam up and swagger down. All You Can Eat Pasta At Mr P.P.'s

It’s drizzling days like these we love hiding away in moody whiskey bars, like Mr P.P.’s deli or their blazing, heater-lined rooftop. Better yet, these Southport legends have just dropped all you can eat pasta every Wednesday. Choose from three bottomless pasta varieties. FYI: they’re changed up weekly, so you’ll always have something new to try. Definitely, the most carb-tastic thing to do on the Gold Coast this July.

Taste Tweed’s 10-Day Winter Food Fest

Showcasing their epic local businesses, activities and fishing history, the Tweed Taste Winter Food Fest is running for eight whole days and we can’t bloody wait. Events include Season Restaurant’s five-course degustation menu, night markets, taphouse twilight cruises and Kingscliff’s Fashion and Food Show.

NAIDOC Dancing On The Green At HOTA

NAIDOC’S 2019 theme is Voice, Treaty and Truth. And this year HOTA will host a wide range of activities at their Surfers Paradise amphitheatre, including a very special Dancing on the Green performance. Interlacing stories of elders, traditional and contemporary dance classes and a melodic youth choir, come along to show your community spirit and embrace the vast eclecticism of NAIDOC.

Sustainable Social Markets At Karma Collab Hub

Nestled in the back streets of Miami, Karma Collab Hub is a co-working space by day, but these legends have recently launched a zero-waste market by arvo too. Yep, from food to knick-knacks, you’ll find a selection of waste-free speciality items all looking for new homes (even if that is your mouth).

Australian Geographic Stargazing Nights

To mark the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, the Australian Geographic is encouraging us all to look skyward at their Stargazing Nights. On the Gold Coast they’re being held at Westfield Coomera and Pacific Fair from 5pm to 8pm and you’ll learn all about space photography and telescopes as the team guides your eyes across the galaxy.

Gold Coast Celebrates 60 

Can you believe that our glorious GC is turning the big 6-0? And in true Gold Coaster fashion, we’re popping champas in style for our official Diamond Jubilee. Head down to Broadwater Parklands and croon to a star-studded lineup, featuring. Amy Shark, the Hanlon Brothers and The Lamplights. Best of all, this arvo-long soiree is free. Get all nostalgic at our home city's community meeting point.

Rummage and Open Mic Night At Miami Marketta

The kids down south have some serious style, so it’s basically a given that Miami Marketta’s Rummage Night will be absolutely flooded with cool finds. Team this with a talent-filled open mic night and hey presto, you’ve found one of the best things to do on the Gold Coast this July.

Wildcare’s Bottomless Brunch

Koalas aren’t the only ones stacking on an extra winter layer this July. But since all proceeds from Wildcare’s Bottomless Brunch are going straight to helping out volunteers with rescue resources, it’s totally fine. Made In The 80s Party

July has us feeling all cosy during the day but come the afternoon, we’re ready to get amongst some serious party vibes. Kicking off from 5pm, BBQ Bazaar’s Made In The 80s party will celebrate all the hits we love, and all the spangled leg warmers you have hidden in your cupboard for a rainy day. Expect epic film clips, big hair and a six-piece band.

Sunsets By Sanctuary Cove

Teaming with 15 of Australia’s top breweries, Sanctuary Cove’s newest celebration of good food and beverages rounds out this July. Over two massive days, the festival will see tastings of over 40 drops, an epic live music line-up and much more.  A true cure for the winter blues.
