A Dog Day Afternoon Comes To Newtown

I don’t mean to hound you but there’s an event happening this weekend that will be off the leash. I mean, it’s going to be totally pawsome! It would be pretty shih if tzu don’t get there. You really mutt come.

Okay, sorry for my pawful puns. But they’re all for a furry good cause.

On Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th November, Newtown’s Cuckoo Callay will present a Dog Day Afternoon, the ultimate fur-baby festival in support of the RSPCA.

The Sydney café will transform its outdoor space into a pooch-pampering heaven with canine-friendly treats, puppy toys, puppacinos, and even a doggy day spa.

The Doggy Dress Up Parade will be a highlight of the event with 15 of Sydney’s most fashionable pups (and their owners) set to do battle on the catwa… ahem… dogwalk each day.

Up to $1,500 worth of prizes are up for grabs so be sure to register your pooch via Cuckoo Callay’s Facebook page for the chance to be involved.

Tasked with judging Newtown’s Next Top Dog is a panel of canine lovers including Tim Dormer, Member for Newtown Jenny Leong, and PR queen Tiffany Farrington, while comedian Scotty Dettrick will be the emcee.

For two-legged guests, gourmet dawgz and bubbles by Laurent-Perrier and Pizzini will be available as well as live music and plenty more pup-inspired entertainment.

Plus, the undeniable cuteness overload! You just have to bea(gle) there.

Yeah, okay. That one was bad. I’m out. Chow chow.
