Looks like Merivale boss, Justin Hemmes was dead serious when he called Sydney after 8pm a “ghost town” at this year’s parliamentary inquiry into our city’s lockout laws.
Since then, the hospitality juggernaut has made it his personal mission to revive Sydney’s late-night culture—to rebuild our international reputation (ahem, that time Madonna got locked out of her own after-party at Level 6 at Ivy), and welcome in a new era for nightlife in Sydney.
And as of today, Hemme’s quest has a name: “This is Sydney” is Merivale’s exciting new late-night program that’s been packed out with free live music, half-price midnight feasts and a couple of new night-time venues.
On the agenda is the Ivy precinct’s exciting and soon to be revealed update, which will include Bar Totti (a CBD extension of Totti’s in Bondi) and Jimmy’s Felafel (a vegetarian-heavy Lebanese eatery that’s part takeaway, part vibey bar with mezze plates and cocktails).
On Thursdays and Fridays, Will & Co on George Street will become Sydney’s tiniest disco, with The Dollar Bin Darlings spinning tunes under the mirror ball, and wine, beer and cocktails served on tap. POOF DOOF, an iconic LGBQTI club-night from Melbourne, will take over Ivy every Saturday night, Marco Polo will take over Ivy Pool on Sundays and a fresh roster of live music will be spread across Merivale venues like The Beresford, Palmer & Co, Palings and Establishment.
To top things off and really encourage us to head out, have a drink, dance and enjoy Sydney under starlight—all 10 of Merivale’s late-night city bars will drop 50% off your food bill between 11pm and 12am, Tuesday through to Saturday every week.
Yes, that's 50% of your near-midnight feast at Palings, Establishment Main Bar, Slip Inn, Ivy Pool Club, Palmer & Co, Bar Topa, Little Felix, Charlie Parker’s and the soon to open Bar Totti’s and Jimmy’s Falafel. It’s a move similar to Merivale’s 49% off all drinks wintertime initiative, and let's just say, we are 100% on board.
And the whole thing kicks off tonight with a free gig from The Preatures. Check details here.
