The Stables D.S. Co-Op is set to open in mere weeks and will be the first of its kind in Sydney—fusing a fashion boutique, restaurant & bar, and newly opened café. From the team behind fashion distribution company We Are The Stables, this will be their second outpost (after the recently opened Bondi store), which will present the labels, collaborations and concepts all in their unique, down-to-earth style.
"The new location will house multiple units of business under the one roof, where customers can have a complete experience. We want our customers to leave knowing something they didn't necessarily know when they walked in. We're trying to create an old department store feel, where your time is well invested," explains retail buyer Dee Adam.
"Every brand has a unique story, and every piece a history. You'll find little connections throughout the store."
Spring/ Summer the range will feature easy-wear pieces with a hint of the androgynous. A showcase of local and international designers, expect to see the likes of: Australia's Whillas & Gunn and Benah accessories; Danish brand Wood Wood; separates by Base Range; and stripes courtesy of Edith Miller. This will all sit alongside favourites Steven Alan, Alexander Wang, Être Cécile, A.L.C and 6397 denim.
The Stables will exclusively stock the beautiful French label Officine Générale, melding heritage workwear with classic tailoring and fabrics sourced from Japan, England and Italy.
Within the vast collection you'll also find specialty magazines like Cereal and Kinfolk, as well as a range of independent titles. As Dee passionately explains, "We want customers to walk into the store and have multiple reasons to be there."
This approach is already a recipe for success.
The café has opened to much acclaim with culinary offerings including pastries, salads, sandwiches and tasty breakfast fare. Coffee beans are supplied by Perth's Five Senses, while pour overs, Aeropress and a hot chocolate with real Venezuelan chocolate, pepper the drinks board.
Details on the rooftop bar are yet to be revealed but in true Stables' style, we can tell you it's going to be one-of-a-kind.
