No winter is complete without our good friend hot chocolate. The hot chocolate's existence is essentially to make you feel good, and what's not to love about that?! While it's nearly the end of winter, it's still just cold enough to enjoy a mug of hot chocolate (although we've been known to enjoy these even in summer). So surrender your taste buds to the warmest, frothiest hot chocolates that will make even the coldest chocoholic feel like they've dived into a warm chocolate bath! We've searched through patisseries, chocolate labs and the best cafes in Sydney, endured sugar highs and the inevitable lows to find for you Sydney's best hot chocolates.

Black Velvet Cupcakes | Darlinghurst

Black Velvet Cupcakes houses some of the tastiest cupcakes, wedding cakes, biscuits and, you guessed it, hot chocolates in town! Housing a cocoa lab to perfect the tastiest hot chocolate possible, their 70% hot cocoa is to die for!

Max Brenner | Paddington

The bald man with the chocolate sure knows his stuff when it comes to hot chocolates. Recreating the warm and fuzzy moment of an actual hug, Max Brenner's hot chocolates are served in their famous Hug Mug and is the perfect winter indulgence. With a creative selection of hot chocolates to perk up your day (we love the coconut hot chocolate), you'll feel all hugged up after a visit to Max Brenner.

Adora Handmade Chocolates | CBD, Earlwood, Rose Bay & Parramatta

A passion for chocolate is what drove two sisters to create Adora Handmade Chocolates. Winning several gold and silver awards, these chocolatiers know how to make a beautiful cup of hot chocolate! With locations in the CBD, Earlwood, Parramatta and Rosebay, this is one hot chocolate you shouldn't skip.

Bon Bon | CBD

Bon Bon has 31 years of chocolate making experience under their belt so it's pretty safe to say the guys at Bon Bon make a decadent hot chocolate. Try the Madagascar 70% dark hot chocolate for something a bit different.

San Churro | Glebe

For San Churro, chocolate is more than just a drink or a simple sweet treat, it is a cherished birthright and delicious daily ritual. You haven't adequately explored the vibrant hot chocolate world until you have a taste of their thick and rich Spanish hot chocolate. For a kick, have a taste of their Azteca hot chocolate blended with chilli!

Rustic Pearl | Surry Hills

Sometimes one cup of hot chocolate just isn't enough. The geniuses at Rustic Pearl are well aware of this and invite you upgrade your Callebaut (100% quality cocao) hot chocolate into a bowl! Trust us, with hot chocolate like this you'll be not-so-elegantly licking your bowl clean. Don't worry, we won't judge.

Cafe 1812 | Paddington

Why not drink your next cup of hot chocolate with some of the greatest writers of our time? Café 1812 is housed inside Berkelouw Books and offers a creative environment to share a delicious hot chocolate.

Cafe Shenkin | Erskineville

Let this Israeli influenced cafe warm your belly with their delicious hot chocolates. A joint family creation, Shenkin is named after the famously charismatic street in Tel Aviv and has been serving up great hot choccies in Erskinville for years. For a twist on your regular hot chocolate, opt to add in a bit of coconut (it makes it taste like a liquid Bounty!).

Earth To Table | Bondi Junction

Raw chef Julie Mitsioss'café, Earth to Table, captures the vegan experience in a way that leaves you begging for more raw goodness! You'll get a natural buzz from their delectable almond milk and raw cocoa infused hot chocolates that are also dairy and sugar free. Hooray!
