Take It Neat Or On The Rocks, A 4-Day Roaming Whisky Festival Is Coming To Sydney

We might be on the home stretch of one of the toughest years ever but hang in there, because the light at the end of the tunnel looks like a boozy festival just in time for the silly season. We’re talking about a four-day whisky festival hitting Sydney next month.

Set to take place down at The Rocks (which just makes sense, really), "Whisk(e)y On The Rocks" will be a major showdown of all things whisky, and it will be a blast whether you're a full-blown aficionado or you're just getting started with this honey-coloured spirit. 

Inspired by Dark Mofo and New Orleans’ multi-day celebration of booze, Tales Of The Cocktail, this roaming festival will feature a whisky trail, tastings, pop-up activities, and whisky adventures, Alice In Wonderland-style.

Divided into four whisky "zones", kick-off your day with tastings at a Fever-Tree High Ball Bar before you board a vintage two-storey bus by Glenfiddich at Campbells Cove. Sample whisky at Maker’s Mark, Dead Rabbit, and a secret “Master’s Keep Bar” by Wild Turkey on George Street, and sip premium blends of Monkey Shoulder’s blended malt Scotch Whiskey from the giant cocktail shaker on wheels on Playfair Street. There’ll also be a Johnnie Walker takeover in the Argyle Courtyard.

You’ll then get to journey through the festival’s dedicated "Whisk(e)y Trail", a whisky crawl that will take you through The Argyle, The Doss House, Mrs Jones Bar at The Orient Hotel, the Copper Dog Courtyard, The Mercantile Hotel, Sergeant Lok, Tayim, Fortune of War, and the award-winning Maybe Sammy.

If you’re still keen for more, hone your cocktail-making skills in a series of intimate masterclasses inside the heritage-listed Campbells Cove Stores (these are ticketed separately to the roaming part of the festival).

Whisk(e)y On The Rocks will take place from Thursday 19 November through to Sunday 22 November, and you can book your tickets here.
