Load Up On Bloody Messina At Australia’s First 24-Hour Donate-A-Thon

By Jessica Best - 13 Jun 2019

If you’re looking for your 2019 good deed, look no further than the Australian Red Cross 24-hour donate-a-thon kicking off this Friday.

It’ll be Australia’s very first full-day blood donation event (happening at Town Hall), which has been dubbed the Bloody Great Friday and you’ll be apart of a movement aiming to raise awareness about the need for 99,000 new donors in the next 12 months.

Along with rolling up your sleeve, you’ll also be in for live music, snacks whipped up by chef Nelly Robinson (nel.), feeds from the “Great Donor Kebab” cart and an icy treat from Messina called “Abso-bloody-lutely” that’s made up of blood orange cheesecake gelato, red velvet cake and raspberry puree.

If you can’t make it to the Town Hall Donor Centre, you can still donate blood at other donation centres around NSW during normal operating hours. Head here to check if you’re eligible and right here to book your appointment.
