It’s a trying time for a whole heap of independent and small businesses right now. The powerful impact of COVID-19 is staggering, and its knock-on effect has no prejudice—every industry is being hit hard.
It’s difficult to take in the number of major event cancellations and venue closures, but, as ever, it’s super important to us at Urban List to highlight, support and stick with the Sydney businesses around us. Right now is the time to show your love for Sydney and regional NSW businesses and spend and shop and eat and drink local when you can.
Sydney restaurants, bars and cafes are fast-changing their approach, and we'll be updating our list below regularly as businesses intro home delivery and takeaway options, creative promos and special gift cards to dine out like kings in the post-COVID-19 world we are all hanging out for.
Update: As of Sunday 22 March, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has announced her intention to close all non-essential businesses within 48-hours to prevent the spread of the COVID-19. While the full list of businesses determined as "non-essential" will be revealed on Monday 23 March—we do know home-delivery will still be available under the new restrictions. As ever, we will continue to update this list as more details are released. If you are a business or know of a business that has a special offer, please get in touch with our editorial team here.

The broth is boiled for over 12 hours to produce a rich, clean and flavoursome base. Plus, if you’re stuck at home, Pho U is offering in-house home delivery service for all Chatswood locals (as well as delivery via UberEats and Deliveroo for those out of the area).
This famous "new-school" Vietnamese eatery will be offering in-house delivery to Marrickville locals. Owner and executive chef Cuong Nguyen will personally be delivering the dishes to say thank you to his supportive customers. What a legend!
Cheesy fondue at home? That's a "hell yes" from us. Goobne's full menu is now available on Menulog.
If the limit of coffee you can consume on self-isolation does not exist, then prep your pockets for the good stuff at Sample Coffee. Its online shop will be open as usual which means you can go hard on fresh beans and home-brewing equipment so you can drink tasty coffee within your own space.
La Coppola Pizza
One of our favourite Sydney pizza restaurants, La Coppola in Redfern, has an online order and pick up option set up on their website, and they offer home-delivery to Redfern, Waterloo, Eveleigh, Chippendale and Darlington. Check it out their menu here for pizza with expert Sicilian flair (our top pick has to be the Zafferia, which comes topped with a literal knot of burrata, as well as spicy pancetta, mushroom, garlic and olive oil).
This Potts Point institution has developed a full takeaway and delivery menu, and it's stacked with tacos, gnocchi and lamb barbacoa. Check out right here.
As one of the best places to score pasta in Sydney, Marta is launching home delivery throughout the COVID-19 crisis. You can stock up on pappardelle, fried potato gnocchi and even wood-fired roman schiacciata filled with Italian mortadella.
Shwarmama is the pint-sized Commonwealth Street space that has become a real lunchtime staple with lines out the door for chef Mat Lindsay's spiced marinated lamb shawarma. The kebab shop's tagline is "Don't worry, Mama's got you", and in this instance, she really does. Shwarmama's entire menu of packed sabiches, falafel pitas and hummus plates is available on Deliveroo and UberEats. You can also order regular takeaway and pick up via the Shwarmama website.
The Unicorn Hotel
If there's one thing we're going to miss in this stay-at-home indefinitely situation, it has to be pub grub. Thankfully, the heroes at The Unicorn Hotel have Paddington locals covered on that front. Yes, one of Sydney's very best schnittys is now available to order to your door via Deliveroo.
Lox In A Box
Much like its name suggests, Lox In A Box marries up two winning concepts—bagels and deli feeds and the perfect convenience of takeaway. Inspired by traditional Jewish delis, this takeaway joint is open just three days a week—Friday through to Sundays (arguably the best days of the week). During this time, these guys are offering free delivery if you’re within 10kms of the Bondi deli.
Lucio’s Pizza has kicked off at-home delivery this week and first-order discounts of up to 25 percent. You’ll be able to order all the carb-loaded feeds to areas within Paddington and Woollahra.
You can rest assured that while you work from home and you’re kicking the productive shiz out of your brain this week that Circa Espresso has you covered. The team here is offering free delivery of their coffee beans across Sydney. Shop here.
Chargrill Charlie’s has introduced “Eat Contactless with Charlie’s”, a new addition to their app which reduces person-to-person contact by allowing customers to pre-order and pay for their takeaway meals, and introduced additional health and hygiene measures across all of its Sydney (and Melbourne) stores.
No. 92 on Glebe Point Road is now doing kerbside pick-ups and personalised delivery for inner-city locals. You’ll be able to order up everything from roast Dutch cream potatoes, Korean fried cauliflower, macaroni beef brisket or even an epic cocktail kit (you know, so you can nail a mango and peach daiquiri while you self isolate). Every order also receives a free roll of toilet paper too, just for the LOLs (lord knows we need 'em right now).
During these difficult times, Grumpy Donuts will be doing takeaway orders only (with contactless payments only as well). You’ll also be able to pre-order on their website for pick-up so we suggest you go hard on ordering up the blueberry fritter filled with fresh blueberries, cinnamon and white chocolate pieces topped with vanilla bean glaze. Thank us later.
Porch And Parlour
You’ll now be able to order up Porch and Parlour’s entire menu (via Hey Now) to takeaway so get set for some gnarly feeds in your very own home. You’ll be able to hit up their kimchi toasties for breakfast (a dark sourdough toast with Japanese mayo and gruyere cheese) and Porch’s absolutely iconic green pancakes with whipped feta, house relish, avocado, zucchini, mint and a snow pea leaf salad.
A Tavola has intro'd a special takeaway menu—and yes it absolutely includes their beautiful rigatoni al ragu with pork, veal, chicken and tomato; there's a beef pappardelle, a crab linguini and more. Call the restaurant on 02 9331 7871 to order, pick up and enjoy.
Jack & Knife
Darlinghurst's mecca of wholesome feeds is now offering takeout. The team here has just launched a new online menu which includes feeds like blueberry and gin-cured salmon with pickled fennel, charred chicken wings with harissa, aioli and lime and their staple beef cheeks with purple vinegar cabbage.
North Sydney And Northern Beaches
Because ordering in from a two-hatted restaurant is absolutely going to cheer us up during these dreary times, Freshwater's iconic Pilu restaurant has revealed a "Pilu at Home" menu. On the menu is Pilu's fluffy focaccia with ricotta and abbamele (to start), Giovanni Pilu's malloreddus with crab, pancetta and preserved lemon, chicken involtini with corn puree and barley salad and more. It's available for lunch and dinner, to order from 12pm - 8.30pm, and the full menu is here.

Call 02 8350 5873 to place your order. You can either pick-up from the kiosk or, should you be self-isolating, the Bather's team will bring it straight to your car and pop it in the boot for you, no contact!
