A New High Speed Train Will Link Sydney And Parramatta

By Yvonne Lam - 20 Jun 2018

Nothing wakes us up from our hump-day stupor quite like a state budget announcement. Amirite? And nothing gets us more excited than a high-speed underground train from Sydney to Parramatta.

Not doing it for you? How about we put it in capitals? A HIGH-SPEED UNDERGROUND SYDNEY TO PARRAMATTA TRAIN IS COMING TO YOU.

And choo choo choo, we say. The new Sydney Metro West line will link our two major CBDs—Sydney and Parramatta—and will include other TBA stations along The Bays Precinct (White Bay, Wentworth Park, Rozelle Bay) and Sydney Olympic Park via an underground route.

The cost? It’s a cool $3 billion dollarinos. And obvs, there’s a whole lot of planning, designing consulting and “geotechnical drilling” to get underway. Construction is set to begin in 2020, and is slated for completion in 2025. By then, the new line will double the train capacity between Sydney and Parramatta, which means more people can get to work and home faster during peak time…or, in off-peak times, we’ll just have a whole lot more leg room.

And in case all of that isn’t clear enough for you, it’ll mean you can be home in 20 minutes from the CBD if you live in Parra. You know that’s a sweet deal.

Here are some of our favourite places to chill in Parra
