Two worlds are set to collide tonight in another epic, culinary collaboration for the 13th edition of Mary’s Jump in the Fire series.
Jump in the Fire is a totally free monthly event hosted at Mary’s Newtown, where big-time chefs, wine producers and sommeliers from across Australia get to jump in the fire at Mary’s kitchen, cook up a storm and generally create some kind of next-level burger-inspired feast.
These mind-blowing collabs have included the likes of Monty Koludrovic from Icebergs, Giovanni Paradiso of 10 William St and Fratelli Paradiso, and Duncan Welmegoed of award-winning Adelaide restaurant, Africola.
This month the Mary’s crew is coming in hot as ever with a one night only special guest visit from one of Sydney’s most innovative restaurants: Ester.
Ester founder and head chef, Mat Lindsay, along with Sommelier Nick Stewart are redesigning the Mary’s menu on Monday 26th August, bringing their eccentric flavours and daring pairings to the table.
Lindsay says, “We have always loved how Mary’s does what it does and this collaboration gives us the chance to loosen the tie a little and get our hands dirty.”
In anticipation of Ester’s upcoming kebab shop, this night will set your taste buds on fire with a twist on falafel and lamb classics, matched with wines made exclusively for Ester (that is, Basket Range Wines, Commune of Buttons, Manon).
On the menu will be a falafel burger, with tahini, garlic sauce and harissa. There'll be fried chicken, doused in dukka with garlic sauce and a Halal snack pack version of loaded fries.
And to keep you all the more fired up, Ester is bringing you Wildflower beer made from their very own woodfired sourdough.
The night will be a gastronomic journey as fine dining finds itself down on the streets of Newtown, giving diners a chance to enjoy the delicacies of Ester with a burger joint price point. Clear your schedule, walk-ins only.
