It’s no secret that us Sydneysiders love a bit of oriental flare, we virtually all migrate to Bali come summer and have fallen in love with baos this year. That’s why we’re sure that Chatswood’s latest addition, Hawker Lane, will have our tongues wagging with joy.
Inspired by the buzzing atmosphere of Asian street markets, the lane will feature 14 retailers that each specialise in one dish. There’ll be Madam Nhu for your pho cravings, Chachu’s for Indian roti and wait for it, One Tea Grill for that famous ramen burger we saw making the rounds at this year’s Night Noodle Markets. And what could top that? Well how ‘bout the fact that the lane closes at 10pm everyday so we can get our dumpling on well into the night.
Perfectly positioned off Charlotte Lane, the whole area really has that authentic street market feel with no less than 7,000 Chinese roof tiles being shipped over for the development. And since it’s part of Westfield (i.e. air-conditioned salvation when its 35 degrees out) you can wander and peruse your options for however long you wish without having to sweat through your shirt.
Having officially opened on the 26th November, we’ll be letting our noses lead the way straight to Hawker Lane this weekend.
