We know it's your birthday and you'll cry if you want to, but this year there'll be no need for tears! We've done our research to bring you Sydney's best bars for birthday drinks so you can kick back, drink up, and enjoy your special day. Now all you need is the dress or dapper suit.

The Botanist | Kirribilli

Thinking you might make this year's birthday an all-day affair? Start the celebrations early with a boozy brunch at Kirribilli's hottest venue, The Botanist—we'll take a dozen Bloody Marys please! If you'd rather keep it after hours, the dinner menu is equally enticing, with wood-fired pizza, sliders, tacos, and colossal cocktails, which are sure to grant all your birthday wishes!

Cranky Fins | Palm Beach

If you're looking for the perfect place to book birthday drinks in Sydney, why not get creative? Cranky Fins Holidae Inn is a fabulous seaside venue, for those looking to head out of the city to celebrate their day of birth. Mexican food is the order of the day, which means just one thing—margaritas!!! If chilling-out in a surf shack with a taco in hand sounds like the way birthdays should be, Crazy Fins is your place.

The Commons | Darlinghurst

With its long communal tables, The Commons is a great place to celebrate birthday drinks in Sydney. Boasting a cosy ambience, tasty share plates (the cheese board is amazing!) and awesome drinks, you're guaranteed an entertaining night out! There's even the option of a seasonal set menu for large groups (think zucchini blossoms and house-made Parmesan breadsticks) so your guests will be well sated. The perfect spot to celebrate into the wee hours.

The Royal | Leichhardt

The Royal has recently undergone a fresh new makeover with the opening of its beautiful botanical bar—think planter boxes and 'garden cup' cocktails and we think it's the perfect spot for birthday drinks in Sydney. The food is fantastic (we can't go past a great burger and fries), and when you wash it down with a celebratory jug of Pimm's or sangria, it just takes it to the next level. If you're after a more formal kind of birthday celebration, The Royal also offers a private dining room, which you can book for up to 16 people. Birthday drinks sorted!

Freda's | Chippendale

Chippendale's hidden gem is easily one of Sydney's best bars for birthday drinks. Slink into a snug corner of Freda's for a candle-lit evening with some of the best cocktails in town—the friendly bar keep always has a great suggestion or two! The menu changes frequently, but there's always a few tasty specials to line your stomach. In the mood to party? Order the grapefruit mescal margarita—it'll knock your socks off!

The Bucket List | Bondi

Still searching for where to go for birthday drinks in Sydney? The Bucket List is an all-time favourite, with its vast pockets that can comfortably fit a hundred of your nearest and dearest. Kick things off early, and soak up the glistening views of Bondi beach—it'll make getting older that much easier. Head chef, Tom Walton has an eye for fresh and inspiring dishes with a love for all things seafood, so we recommend settling in with a bucket of tiger prawns, The Bucket List's John Dory burger, and a pail of Coronas.

Rushcutters | Rushcutters Bay

Whether you're looking to celebrate at breakfast, lunch, or dinner, Rushcutters is one of our favourite spots for birthday drinks in Sydney! The casually cool, open space of Rushcutter's is ideal for large groups so you needn't be picky with the guest list. Relax in the Deli & Bar if you're after a light snack, or book a table in the dining room for a full menu of flavoursome European dishes. Boasting an extensive wine list and a cocktail menu that will have you drooling (hopefully, not literally), our choice is the custom-made martini or the Beetroot Bramble featuring sorbet, lime, and basil, spiked with gin for that extra birthday kick!

Miss Peaches | Newtown

Rounding off our list of where to book birthday drinks in Sydney is none other than Newtown's legendary Miss Peaches. Serving up a slice of the south, there's plenty of room for you and all your party people, plus resident DJs spinning the best in blues, rock, and RnB. This bar is the best spot for a casual get-together with everything you need to make it a night you'll (hopefully) remember. You'll be spoilt for beverage choice, but seeing as it is your day, go for something a bit fancy—the watermelon ruby fizz with Tanqueray, Sloe, lemon juice, and watermelon soda should do the trick!
