Trivia nights have been a long-time favourite for us Gold Coastians. There’s just something about midweek nights out teamed with a bunch of mates while sharing obscure knowledge. As well-being as an excuse to hit one of our many impressive restaurants, sink a couple of coldies and chin wag into the evening, we reckon trivia is pretty damn fun.
So, empty your head of kooky facts and share them with the world at the best trivia nights on the Gold Coast.
The Island Rooftop
Think game show meets tropical paradise getaway and that’s basically what The Island has in store. Funky Bunch Tuesday Trivia at The Island Bistro and Bar is teamed with $25 all you can eat wood-fired four seasons pizzas. Oh, and did we mention these guys include audio-visual effects to take their trivia up a notch? Yep. Plus weekly prizes. Plus jackpots. Plus you taking home the whole lot.
When: Tuesdays 6:30pm
Cost: Free entry
Rather than the usual weekend visit to Nobbys Arc for “just one beer”, we’re suggesting you USE your brain cells, not kill them, by hitting up Tuesday trivia night instead. You’ll be treated to giveaways, $5 beer and vinos, and $15 pizza specials, with the brainiest of the bunch taking home a big ol’ pineapple (fifty bucks). At night’s end, the winners have an extra “beat the bartender challenge”, while your entry fee goes into the monthly prize pool, with the last jackpot winner taking home a very tidy 1000 bucks.
When: Tuesdays 7pm

Last Night on Earth
When the only rule is that there are no rules, you know you’re in for a ripper of a time. Last Night on Earth has gotta have one of the best trivia nights on the Gold Coast for their raucous entertainment. Nestled inside this post-apocalyptic bunker is a place that has become infamous across the Gold Coast for politically incorrect trivia. Nothing is off limits—nothing! Expect themed dress up events every couple of weeks and heckle Christian the handsome host (at your own risk). Best of all, if you get a little out of hand, the tram is right out front.
When: Wednesdays 7:30 pm
Justin Lane Establishment
Justin Lane needs little introduction. But perhaps you didn’t know the cool crew at JL also hosts one of the Coast’s most kick-arse trivia nights. Held upstairs in their chic rooftop, it’s always a fun night out with drinks and Italian tasties flowing. Your $1 entry donation goes into the jackpot jar, with a “jackpot question” asked at the conclusion of the night.
Details: Wednesdays 7pm
Cost: $1 (no limit to team size)
Trivia and tacos go hand in hand, we all know that. So sinking margies while answering tough questions about the likes of Harry Potter, F.R.I.E.N.D.S, Sex and the City and more has Wednesday nights sorted. Head south to Coolangatta for spesh deals like two tacos and beer or sangria for $10 at Beach Burrito. Well worth the road trip while you test your bestie’s Chandler knowledge when you can snag a prize for best dressed too. Nights pop up sporadically to keep an eye out for these ones.
When: Wednesdays 7pm
Mr P.Ps Deli & Rooftop

Suited to all ages and, ahem, intellect levels, Mr P.P.’s draws a mixed crowd, so you’re bound to fit right in. Lap up all of those relaxed vibes with a pizza slice in one hand and a schooie in the other. Later, head upstairs to the rooftop for a nightcap under the stars. Questions vary so everyone’s in with a crack and the music round is pretty cool too.
