When it comes to beauty we’re officially #addicted. And with our beauty purchasing showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon; there’s nothing we like the sound of more than beauty brands that pay it forward. Brands that give a slice of their profits to charities or even better, those that are working alongside charities to be ethical, fair-trade and sustainable.
With that in mind, we’ve rounded up the best beauty brands that are giving back, so you can choose your purchases with charity in mind.
MAC Viva Glam Lipstick
Since 1994, when MAC introduced its very first VIVA GLAM Lipstick (in deep red, no less), every single cent made has gone straight to the MAC Aids Fund. Since then there’s been a pinked mauve, foxy brown plum, heartful rose charged with gold and a pure neutral pink. Today’s glam lippie is a warm terracotta-plum with a pearl finish (swoon!) and if that doesn’t sway you to give to charity, we don’t know what will.
Lush Charity Pot
This gorgeous body lotion does lots of good for your skin, and its goodness doesn’t stop there. 100% of the price of each pot goes to small organisations working towards human rights, animal welfare and environmental conservation. What’s more, the rich cream is made up of seven ingredients, including ylang ylang and rosewood oils sourced from Lush Fund projects.
Bobbi Browns Pretty Powerful Campaign was born of the idea that all women are beautiful (an idea we here at The Urban List can definitely get behind). Through the Pretty Powerful book, Bobbi shares beauty stories from real women, celebrities and athletes, all aimed to inspire confidence.
‘Look good. Do good’ is the motto of Benefits amazeballs Bold is Beautiful Project which aims to empower women, so that they feel confident, strong AND beautiful. So how does it work? Basically, for every brow wax at participating locations, money is donated to local women’s charities. What are you waiting for? Get involved and help the cause whilst getting those brows on fleek. Double win.
Over the last 12 years, GHD has managed to raise a massive $18 million for breast cancer charities through sales of their Electric Pink range. Featuring an Electric Pink GHD V Styler, a Hairdryer and a Platinum Styler, this year GHD aims to raise that total to $20 million. All you need to do is purchase a pink styling item and GHD will donate for you. What gems.
The Clinique Difference Initiative
Clinique has teamed up with some stellar charities, including Great Ormond Street Hospital, Breast Cancer Research Foundation and Room to Read, to support the education, and in turn the independence, of girls across the world. As well as this, they have partnered with Difference Makers from all around the globe, including actress Gina Rodriguez and cyclist Victoria Pendleton.
Excuse us guys, we’re off to shop for a cause.
