We love our food on wheels here in Perth and despite all the new food joints popping up like daisies, it seems that we’re all more excited about the food truck revolution. As the rule of supply and demand goes—we asked and the food truck gods have delivered yet another band of ten top-of-the-wazza food-mobiles since we wrote about these ones AND these ones! Here are 10 more of Perth’s best food trucks!
The Little Champagne Cart
Yes, you can now get your bubbles dispensed from a mini 1920’s style car, with wine glasses hanging from the roof and every champagne cocktail under the sun, The Little Champagne Cart is most certainly a dream come true.
The Fish Boss
Serving only 100% Aussie seafood, you can feel like you're making a positive contribution to the world while munching on the best local seafood at The Fish Boss. From fish tacos and fish burgers to fish ‘n’ chips—check ‘em out on Insta to find their whereabouts.
When Southern BBQ meets Vietnam and has beautiful banh mi babies, you know you’ve found yourself at the stoop of Saigon Soulfood’s much loved food truck. Who doesn’t love slow-cooked meat and coriander in a bun?
The Merrywell Dude Food On Wheels
‘Dude food’ is a new term for the self-aware junk food eater who, despite knowing the perils of consuming deep fried food, does it anyway (because it's delicious). For those of us who are into ‘dude food’ (so, all of us) The Merrywell Food Truck is now on wheels bringing you mini beef burgers and BBQ pulled pork for days.
What The Flip
How could you not trust a food truck with a good sense of humour and the ability to make crepes? Because let’s face is, anyone who can flip something so thin without breaking it has got to know what’s up—especially when they combine toppings like bacon and Canadian maple syrup or salted caramel. If that’s not enough, WTF continues to charm the pants off us with bagels, tea and coffee.
Let Ninja Cuisine introduce you to a world of Japanese food you never knew about, from takoyaki octopus balls to okonomiyaki pancakes and matcha cakes. After sampling these goods for the first time you’ll forever be on the hunt for another fix of their Japanese pancakes covered in mayo, seaweed and chilli sauce.
Miss Lucy Delicious Foods
Miss Lucy specialises in Asian street food and we can't get enough. They had us at the chicken and beef bao buns, but the dumplings really sealed the deal. These guys regularly rock around the Hawkers Twilight Markets, South Beach Sunset Markets and a few others, but check out their Facebook page to find locations for the week.
Everyone’s favourite Moroccan breakfast is now available on wheels at Shak Shuka, it’s spicy tomato-y goodness simmers away irresistibly in a paella pan next to a wooden case of fresh, crusty baguettes. You’ll find them serving up their famous shakshuka regularly all over Perth, including the Twilight Hawkers Market, South Fremantle Farmers Markets and the South Beach Sunset Markets to name a few.
Elly’s Coconutz delivers a range of guilt-free ice cream that’s actually completely (not just slightly) healthy for you. From cardamom pistachio, mango lemon myrtle and coconut salted caramel—all of their ice creams are made with filtered alkaline PH water, guar gum, xylitol, stevia and Himalayan pink crystal salt. It’s all very #cleaneats and we love it.
While technically not a food truck, food stall Suppa Club is definitely worth a mention for the sheer fact that they serve their delicious soups in a bread bowl—what more could you want? Soups include vegan pumpkin and coconut, creamy leek and potato and Hungarian beef goulash to name just some and you’ll be happy to know you can also buy them in jars at your local supermarket.
