If you’re unsure who Perth’s dumpling queen is you are missing out. Jacquie Chan is the owner of the Miss Chow’s dumpling house empire which has gained a cult-like following since opening four years ago.
Her newest venture Oriental Market & Grocer—OMG—is slated to open on 17 June at Campus Perth (the old Telstra building for those in the know).
OMG will encompass a 400 square metre grocer choc-full of fresh WA produce, frozen foods, ready-to-go meals and specialty pantry items sourced from all over Asia. And we’ve been told a liquor store will come shortly after opening.
The ready-made Miss Chow’s meals will be perfect for picking up on your way home from work. “We’re using locally-sourced ingredients, combined with time-honoured authentic recipes that we’ve trialled and perfected across our other businesses,” says Chan.
But that’s not all. In the coming months, Chan will open Born & Bread, an artisan bakery that will blend French and Japanese techniques. Expect fresh-baked bread, delicious pastries, savoury delights and other surprises, along with fresh brewed local coffee.
To complete the set, Small Talk will open in the latter half of 2019; a Japanese Izakaya-style bar, with plenty of Japanese share plates and liquors to go around.
And because all of that isn’t enough to keep her busy, Chan will open a third Miss Chow’s restaurant in South Perth in early July.
So, mark 17 June in your diaries and grab your canvas bags, your grocery shopping game is about to level up.
