Ex-Masterchef contestant Wade Drummond—famous for both his delicious crumpets and rather prominent eyebrows—has launched a kickstarter campaign to get his dream of running a Perth cafe off the ground.
Having gained a cult following at the Subiaco Markets for his freaking delicious homemade crumpets, Wade also plans to launch a food education program called Cooking for a Generation once the cafe is up and running—with the aim of educating kids about healthy eating habits and what is possible with food.
The cafe will be named Leake St Cafeteria, perfectly located off Market Street at the back of Kakulus Sister in Freo. Excellent coffee and healthy lunchtime eats under $10 will be the name of the game here—with Wade planning to be the first WA venue to offer punters Allpress Espresso beans.
“I’m aiming to serve distinctive salads with fresh, locally sourced produce—think sprouted, fermented, smoked and pickled ingredients. I hope to have sprouting gardens on the walls so I can try and evolve these salads further,” he said.
Wade is aiming to raise $15,000 by 20 October. You can donate to his campaign here!
