The beaches of the Eastern Suburbs are constantly showcasing their impressive abilities with food and drink as delicious as the scenery is beautiful, and the Taste of Coogee is no exception. Having made its mark as a highly successful, four-years-running, food, beer and wine festival, the Taste of Coogee is now turning up the heat for 2016 with an extended two-day event.
Sealed with a foodie stamp of approval, the Taste of Coogee 2016 is making us hungry with anticipation, and we’re not the only ones, as this event is expected to attract upwards of 40,000 people! Luckily the festival has moved to the new (and larger) location of Coogee Oval to accommodate all its ravenous fans plus the 100+ stalls of incredible food and beverages from Australia and beyond.
This year’s highlights, to name a few, include the opportunity to not only taste and experience the best food, beer and wine the festival has to offer, but also to learn some tricks of the trade! This year, why not complete a masterclass ($35pp) with celebrity chefs Justin North (Hotel Centennial), Andy Allen (Masterchef winner 2012 and Three Blue Ducks), Monte Koludrovic (Icebergs) and Mindy Woods (ex-Masterchef). Afterwards, because you would’ve totally earned a tall drink and a hearty snack, wander the stalls and sample one (or three) of the many award winning beers and wines on offer which, if we may add, will go down perfectly with a few oysters from The Shuck Truck.
There really is something for everyone and every palate at the Taste of Coogee this year. Live entertainment for all ages will be scattered throughout the crowd at Coogee Oval so be ready to groove along to some bands double parked with a drink in one hand and a snack in the other. And remember, no need to feel guilty when treating yourself to another delicious creation or award winning wine because all proceeds from Taste of Coogee 2016 will be donated to Coogee Lions, raising money to help local families in need.
