We were baffled when we first heard about Alma Bar & Kitchen. How could we not have heard about this cool restaurant in Darlinghurst, located just minutes from The Urban List HQ? Needless to say we immediately strolled down to Stanley Street to get our food and drink on.
By day, Alma Bar & Kitchen serves a scrumptious breakfast. In the evenings, the lights are dimmed and there’s a moody, romantic vibe, which is perfectly suited to cocktails. Settle in and let the bartenders take care of you – simply give them an indication of what flavours you like and let them work their magic. You could wind up with a flaming Old Fashioned, or a light and fresh White Lady. The beautifully decorated upstairs makes the perfect spot for a long, boozy dinner with friends.
Chef Ricardo Ferreira has created a short menu of tasty gastro dishes. Start with the pulled pork pancake with aged cheddar, tender squid in a herbed crumb, and delicious codfish croquettes. Move on to their signature duck confit in an orange zest jus served with coconut flakes, tender thrice cooked beef on a bed of crunchy sweed potato and chourico, and succulent pork served with clams, crisp potatoes and homemade pickles.
If dining in a group, the charcutterie and ouijo board is perfect for sharing and featured a generous spread of chorizo, prosciutto, salami, marinated veggies, brie, goat’s cheese... Need we say more?
Dessert will have you choosing between crème caramel and sweet rice pudding, but if you'd prefer something really special, you must try the Portugese dessert specialty known as the chocolate salami - it is so rich it will leave you wanting more.
We are expecting big things here. Get in quick!
